Europe is in crisis. Europe is hard to get. Europe is not friendly to an average citizen. All these statements are more or less often repeated in public discourse. I’m Marta, former student of French language and literature, now involved in European Political Studies. Originally from Poland, actually based in France, in Strasbourg – the city so called ‘heart of Europe’ (yes, it’s not in Brussels
where everything has started…). I would like to tell you my European story. Show places and institutions, which are maybe not accessible on daily level for everyone, but at the same time they exist somewhere in Europe. Presented only as bureaucratic machines, theirs functions are often misunderstood. That’s why my aim is to show you its familiar faces, architectural details, not only perfect, typical images known from news. Europa jest w kryzysie. Europa jest niedostępna. Europa jest nieprzyjazna zwykłym obywatelom. Wszystkie te stwierdzenia częściej lub rzadziej pojawiają się w opinii publicznej. Nazywam się Marta, kiedyś studentka filologii romańskiej i literatury, dziś Polityki Europejskiej. Jestem z Polski ale aktualnie mieszkam we Francji, w Strasburgu – mieście nazywanym ‘sercem Europy’ (tak, to nie w Brukseli wszystko się zaczęło…). Chciałabym opowiedzieć wam moją Europejską historię. Pokazać miejsca i instytucje, które może nie są na co dzień dostępne dla wszystkich, ale gdzieś w Europie istnieją. Ich funkcje są często źle rozumiane, a one same prezentowane jako biurokratyczne machiny. To dlatego chcę wam pokazać ich bardziej przyjazne oblicze, architektoniczne detale, a nie tylko idealne i stereotypowe obrazki znane z mediów.
