There is a saying that there are two religions in Italy : The Catholic church and Ferrari. But in Napoli there is another god, and his name is Diego Armando Maradona.

When he arrived in Napoli from Boca Juniors in 1984, Maradona was not just a football player, he was a miracle in blue with a golden left foot, a man who carried the dreams of an entire city on his shoulders.

Leading Napoli to its first Scudetto and European cup in the late 80’s, he gave to the southern city of Italy a glory, a pride and a voice that was for long destined to the northern Italian cities, a voice that now could be heard across the entire country and all over the world.

In Argentina he was El Pibe de Oro, the golden boy, but in Napoli the boy became a legend and the legend became a god. Nowadays, his legacy is eternal and goes far beyond borders, his spirit still lives in the streets of Napoli even long after his death, his portraits still adorn the walls of the city and his name is still spoken like a prayer.
