Wonder doesn’t flourish in comfort. For me, breaking from normal life creates space for the unexpected and extraordinary to slip in. When routines fall away, my senses wake up. I start noticing small details and big horizons in new ways. Curiosity returns, and the world feels wide open.

I recently got back from guiding a mountain bike tour on the Trans Ecuador Mountain Bike Route. It’s a route that asks a lot. Long days in the saddle, pushing physical limits in thin air, shifting weather, big climbs and fast rolling descents.

Each day felt like a fresh chapter. Cotopaxi rising out of the morning haze. Long, empty gravel roads and single tracks drawing our group toward the immense shadow of Chimborazo. New views and experiences unfolding hour by hour. That constant movement into the unknown wakes something in me. The bike switches my mind into exploration mode. I feel free, alert, alive. It fuels creativity and sharpens that sense of wonder that keeps me loving the natural world around us.

And then there’s the people. Our crew clicked from the first miles, carrying humour and heart through every challenge. Riding with my hermanos and amplified it all. Effortless camaraderie that turns tough days into stories you want to relive, even the hardest type-2 days.

Through it all, I rode a Divider — the first bike I ever built from a bare frame and shaped into a dream machine. Steady when the trail got rough and the speed kicked up on technical descents. Quick when I needed to react. Comfortable enough to disappear beneath me and let me stay fully present. Could anyone ask for more?

Now, back home with my family, I feel grateful. But the trails are calling again, adventure is tugging at the edges, and the bike is already whispering to be pushed further…

Thanks to and for the advice on my first ever custom bike build. Lots of shared dreams made this happen.

And thanks for some of the photos .roe.06
