How far in advance should you start planning your daughter’s quinceañera in Paris?

If your daughter dreams of celebrating her quinceañera in Paris, here's my biggest piece of advice: don't leave all the planning until the last few months!

A trip like this involves much more than booking flights and a hotel. The earlier you start planning, the more options you'll have and the easier it will be to organize everything.

Here's a timeline to help you get started:

✈️ 12–18 months before: Start dreaming and planning
Sit down with your daughter and talk about how she imagines celebrating her quinceañera.

Does she want to visit just Paris, or would she love to explore other European countries too? How many family members will be traveling? What's your budget?

This is also a great time to start saving and make sure everyone's passports are up to date.

🏨 6–10 months before: Flights and accommodation
Start comparing flights, looking for well-located hotels, and narrowing down your travel dates.

If you're planning to visit during school breaks, summer, or the Christmas holidays, booking further in advance is especially helpful.

👗 4–6 months before: Plan her quinceañera experience
Now comes one of my favorite parts: choosing the dress, photo locations, makeup, hair, and photoshoot!

Here's something to keep in mind: if your daughter dreams of wearing a beautiful, full quinceañera gown, traveling with such a large dress can be quite a challenge.

That's why we have quinceañera dresses available in Paris, so you don't have to bring one all the way from Mexico!

📸 2–3 months before: Finalize the details
Confirm your photoshoot schedule, family activities, restaurant reservations, and any special experiences you'd like to include.

It's also important to consider the weather during your travel dates and have a backup plan in case it rains.

🤍 And my most important piece of advice: It's not about packing every single day with activities. It's about creating a celebration where your daughter feels truly special and the whole family gets to enjoy the experience.

🗽 5 things I WOULDN'T spend my money on in New York City (and what I'd actually spend it on) 💸👀

New York is one of those cities where you can spend a lot of money without even realizing it. But after visiting, there are definitely a few things I'd rather save my money on.

If you're planning your first trip to NYC, save these tips!

1. I wouldn't pay for a boat tour just to see the Statue of Liberty
If all you want is a view of the Statue of Liberty from the water, take the Staten Island Ferry. It's completely FREE!

Just keep in mind that it doesn't stop at Liberty Island, but you'll still get beautiful views of the harbor and the statue without spending a dime.

2. I wouldn't pay to visit every observation deck
SUMMIT, Top of the Rock, Edge, and the Empire State Building are all amazing experiences, but you really don't need to do them all.

I'd pick one based on the views I'm most excited about and spend the rest of that money on something else.

3. I wouldn't take Uber everywhere in Manhattan
Between traffic and ride fares, those expenses can add up fast!

The subway costs $3 per ride, and if you consistently use the same contactless card or device, eligible rides are capped at $35 over seven days.

My advice: mix subway rides with walking and plan your days by neighborhood.

4. I wouldn't eat at Times Square restaurants every day
You're often paying extra for the location, and that doesn't necessarily mean you're getting better food.

I'd rather explore local delis, pizza spots, food markets, and smaller restaurants in other neighborhoods.

**5. I wouldn't spend a fortune on tourist souvenirs**

You don't need to come home with ten I LOVE NY T-shirts. 😂

I'd rather pick up something meaningful, a beautiful illustration of the city, or something I'll actually use.

So, what WOULD I spend my money on?

• A Broadway show I've always wanted to see.
• A special dinner or a unique food experience.
• An observation deck at sunset.
• A professional photoshoot to remember the trip. 📸

Because after booking flights, hotels, planning your itinerary, and saving up for a trip to New York, it's worth coming home with beautiful photos where you're actually in the picture.

Visiting the Vatican for the first time? Save this itinerary to avoid wasting time! 👀

If you're planning a trip to Rome and want to visit the Vatican, here's something important to know: not all attractions have the same entrance, and you don't have to pay to visit everything.

Here's a simple route to help you plan your visit!

1. Start by taking Metro Line A
Get off at Ottaviano, one of the most convenient stations for reaching the Vatican area.

2. Visit the Vatican Museums
If you're planning to visit, I highly recommend booking your tickets in advance.

Inside, you'll find incredible art collections, including access to the famous Sistine Chapel.

Important: the entrance is on Viale Vaticano, NOT in St. Peter's Square.

3. Explore the Sistine Chapel
The Sistine Chapel is included in your Vatican Museums ticket, so you don't need to purchase a separate admission ticket.

Take your time admiring Michelangelo's breathtaking frescoes. They're one of the highlights of the entire visit!

4. Continue to St. Peter's Basilica
General admission is FREE, although you'll need to go through security screening.

Keep in mind that if you're visiting the museums independently, you'll usually need to exit and walk around the Vatican walls to reach the Basilica. Allow approximately 15 minutes for the walk.

5. Finish at St. Peter's Square

Take some time to admire the architecture, the beautiful colonnades, and of course, take a few photos!

f you still have some energy left, continue walking toward Castel Sant'Angelo and the beautiful bridge crossing the Tiber River.

A few extra tips:
• Book your Vatican Museums tickets in advance.
• Wear comfortable walking shoes.
• Make sure your shoulders and knees are covered when entering religious sites.
• Don't try to squeeze everything into two hours. Set aside a good part of your day to enjoy the experience.

One of the most common mistakes travelers make when visiting New York is choosing a hotel simply because it's affordable or close to Times Square.

But a few important details can make a big difference in your budget and your overall travel experience.

If you're looking for a place to stay, save these tips:

Areas like Long Island City, Downtown Brooklyn, or other parts of Manhattan can be great alternatives. The key is to check the exact location and how well-connected it is.

🚇 2. Check how close the subway is.

A cheaper hotel might end up costing you valuable time if you need multiple transfers to reach the places you want to visit. Look for a nearby subway station and check the routes.

💰 3. Double-check the final price.

Visiting Madrid? Don't pay for a sightseeing bus before checking out this option!

Did you know there's a public bus that takes you past some of Madrid's most famous landmarks, and it's completely FREE?

If you're planning your first trip to Madrid, save this tip! It's a great way to explore the city without spending extra money.

Which bus should you take?
EMT Bus 001, a free electric bus that runs between Atocha and Moncloa, passing right through the heart of Madrid.

📍 What can you see along the route?
• Atocha Train Station
• Prado Museum and Royal Botanical Garden
• Neptune Fountain
• Plaza de Cibeles
• Círculo de Bellas Artes
• Gran Vía and Callao
• Plaza de España

💶 How much does it cost?
Absolutely nothing! Bus 001 is completely free.

You can hop on and off at any of its stops to explore the areas that interest you most.

My tip: Take this bus on your first day in Madrid to get a feel for the city and discover places you'd like to explore further.

1. I wouldn't spend too much on touristy breakfasts 🥐
Having breakfast with a view of the Eiffel Tower sounds amazing, but you don't need to spend €25 on a coffee and a croissant.

I'd rather grab something delicious from a local boulangerie and enjoy it while walking through Paris.

2. I wouldn't take taxis everywhere 🚇
Paris has an excellent public transportation system, and many of its most famous attractions are within walking distance of each other.

My tip: plan your days by neighborhood so you're not wasting time and money going back and forth across the city.

3. I wouldn't buy souvenirs from just any tourist shop
Keychains, magnets, and souvenirs sold near major attractions can end up costing more than you'd expect.

I'd rather explore a local shop, pick up a beautiful illustration, or bring home a French product I'd actually enjoy using.

4. I wouldn't pay to go up every famous landmark
Is going up the Eiffel Tower worth it? It absolutely can be!

But you don't need to pay for every observation deck or attraction.

London's famous red double-decker buses are part of the public transportation system, and some routes take you past incredible landmarks!

1. Bus 139

A great option for exploring some of London's most iconic areas, including:
• Trafalgar Square
• Piccadilly Circus
• Regent Street
• Oxford Street
• Abbey Road

2. Bus 11
Another great route for sightseeing, taking you through areas like Westminster, Victoria, and Chelsea.

💷 3. How much does it cost?

Until October 31, 2026, a single adult bus fare is £1.75. Starting November 1, it will increase to £1.85.

You can pay with a contactless card, Oyster card, or your phone.

Plus, with the Hopper fare, you can take multiple bus journeys within one hour for the price of one, as long as you use the same payment method.

Paris has a reputation for being incredibly expensive, but there are plenty of ways to avoid unnecessary expenses if you plan ahead.

Hi, I'm Valeria from Captourist, and today I'm sharing a few tips to help you make the most of your travel budget!

Grab breakfast at a bakery instead of a restaurant

Stop by a local boulangerie for a croissant, a baguette, or a coffee to go. It's usually much cheaper than sitting down for a full breakfast at a restaurant.

Learn how to use public transportation

In 2026, a Metro, train, or RER ticket costs €2.55, while a bus or tram ticket costs €2.05.

If you're planning to use public transportation frequently, compare Navigo passes with individual tickets to see which option makes more sense for your trip.

Stop spending money on bottled water

At restaurants, you can ask for "une carafe d'eau" to get free tap water.

You can also bring a reusable water bottle and refill it at public drinking fountains throughout the city.

Have a picnic with a view of the Eiffel Tower

This is one of my favorite tips! Stop by Carrefour or Monoprix and grab a baguette, some cheese, fruit, and something to drink.

Find a spot where picnicking is allowed and enjoy a beautiful view without paying tourist restaurant prices.

Take advantage of free museums

The Petit Palais and the permanent collections at the Musée Carnavalet are fantastic options.

Some museums also offer free admission on certain days or during specific hours, so check their schedules before buying tickets!

Don't book the cheapest hotel without checking the location

Saving €20 per night might sound great, but it could mean spending much more time getting around the city.

Look for accommodation near a Metro station and consider how much you'll spend on transportation during your stay.

You don't need to pay for every attraction

You can enjoy incredible views of the Eiffel Tower from Trocadéro, explore Montmartre, stroll through the Luxembourg Gardens, and walk along the Seine without spending a cent on admission.

Save your money for the paid experiences you're genuinely excited about.
