We thought she’d always be there, until she wasn’t. Watching Notre Dame in flames was like watching a reel play loss after heartbreaking loss of history, beauty, art, culture... and the loss of that slice of time when I had the extraordinary honor to have my boys live and play under her shadow. We lived in the Latin Quarter, and Notre Dame helped the boys navigate around the city, she was their compass, her spire their North. She became the backdrop of their everyday. So for them and for me, the burning of Notre Dame feels likes a loss of a beautiful old friend.
Solace comes in knowing she will be back one day in her full majesty ❤️ @ Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris
