Cardross Parish Church has a history dating back to 1226, with a charter granting the Church of Cardross to the Bishop of Glasgow. The church was initially located on the west bank of the River Leven. In 1941, the original church was destroyed by bombing, and the tower was preserved as a war memorial. The present church building, originally a Free Church from 1872, was adapted for use as Cardross Parish Church
