One of the most important things to think about is an engagement shoot.

Something I think every engaged couple should know is that engagement shoots are extremely helpful to you two. You meet your photographer ahead of the day and the awkwardness goes away. Is a great way to see what you like or don't like doing for poses (for example lifting or dipping). I myself find it full of fun and information I can put to use on the big day. If you were torn on a location for your elopement or wedding you can use your engagement shoot to have it at that location. Especially if it's a location that means a lot to you but would be very hard to do on your wedding day. That are a few reasons it's essential to have an engagement shoot.

What gets you excited about your work?

This gets me excited about my wedding and elopement photography. It's not just shooting in Paris or shooting an amazingly cool couple. All of those things are already on point. What I geek out about more is looking back at my images and seeing more in this image. They themselves look like mannikins and are pulled out from the Chanel storefront with the poses and style. She's even wearing a gorgeous dress. Why not shoot with a little city style? The reason we shot it there.

Why is it worth doing Engagement Photos?

If you've never hired a photographer and don't feel comfortable in front of the camera. This is the best time to do a test run before your wedding or elopement day. Hiring a Professional for the first time and feeling overwhelming at first and no one wants to feel like they made the wrong decision. Taking the time to do a fun engagement shoot is the best way to get the pre-day nerves out of the way and straight to enjoying the most out of your day.

This photo means a lot to me for those that don't know this is my brother and my sister-in-law. I shot their elopement in my favorite national park. I'm so happy to have been able to share my gift of photography with them.

It takes a little planning and communication with your photographer to figure out the right spot for you two as a couple. One important thing to think about is the lighting for your elopement day. If you love sunrise photos you might have to trade a little zzz for getting up earlier for the excellent lighting in the location you pick. You have to think about hiking in the dark to get to the location before the sun comes up. These are all things we go over to make sure everything goes smoothly and that you're getting the style of the day you'd love most. Along with the images being just right for you two.

When it comes to eloping, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions out there. So before we get into the what, when, where, and how of eloping, let's take a moment to dispel some of those myths.

❌ Eloping is NOT running off to get married without telling anyone.
❌ It's not doing something sneaky or wrong.
❌ And it's definitely not something that should be done in order to spite your parents!

PT. 1: DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE❗

Eloping can be a wonderfully simple and stress-free way to get married. However, there are a few things to avoid so that your elopement is truly magical. Here are 3 tips:

🚫 Don't invite anyone other than your closest family and friends. This is your day, not theirs! If you want to invite a larger group of people (up to 30), an intimate wedding would be perfect for you. ☺️

🚫 Avoid scheduling your elopement on a major holiday like Valentine's Day or Christmas. Timing and location are important since you want to avoid overcrowded areas!

🚫 Don't try to do everything yourself. Hire an elopement photographer or at least have someone else take care of the little details while you enjoy your big day.
