Catherine O'Hara [wedding and lifestyle photography]

Catherine O'Hara [wedding and lifestyle photography] Wedding & elopement photographer throughout Ireland & Paris, France My approach is photojournalistic in style and manner, unobtrusive and quiet.

"Great stories are made of a series of real moments and emotions…"

And this is exactly what I set out to achieve when I document a wedding, capturing these wonderful, fleeting moments of your special day. I was born and raised in Ireland with a predominately equestrian background, my love for horses dominating from an early age. Later, I realised my other love, photography, and after a period of

only simply dreaming of it I decided to take the plunge and enrolled in a Masters of Photography course at Speos Photographic Institute in the most romantic city in the world, Paris and I haven't looked back. I believe in capturing the joy and beauty of your special day with minimum interference. I look for the smiles, the elation, the dancing, the subtle glances, the proud parents and the special little details that make your day as unique as you both are. I gather all these special and intimate moments to help tell the story of what makes you an amazing couple. I am a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association www.wpja.com which is an International, membership-based organization representing professional photographers skilled in the documentation of weddings and events in a candid, unobtrusive style. People look their most real and alive when they are unaware of the camera. If the couple wishes there is the opportunity of course for group shots and some directed shots of the couple also, in any beautiful locations that your venue has to offer. This can be decided upon in advance of the wedding day. There are options of full day packages where I arrive for the bride and groom preparations and stay until the first dance or later into the celebrations! There is also the option of half day or shorter day coverage depending on the couples needs and budgets. Feel free to email me to discuss your wishes. Engagement shoots are becoming more and more popular these days and are a wonderful addition to the run up to your wedding. They are relaxed, intimate shoots that allow me to capture you as a couple under stress free conditions and get to know each others personality and style. These can also be shot post wedding capturing the radiant post glow newly weds have! This is an optional extra to your package. All packages include hi-res images on a cd or uploaded to an ftp site for your convenience. Other optional extras:

Elegant, high quality, hand made albums, with a style and finish to suit every taste and budget
Wedding books
Prints

I am also available for couples shoots, portraits, family and lifestyle photography etc.

I guess if I’m going to “encourage” my willing couples to get their kit off in the name of art & allow me to post it then I guess I should put my money where my mouth is 🤭
So here’s an old throwback to my first winter in Paris as a wee innocent when I was brought to a busy park by one of my photography student colleagues in the freezing rain after being persuaded by her vision & maybe an Irish coffee or two - et voila 🫣🥶😀

Merci Rebecca for the memories! 🇫🇷

When your tiny blond assistant, aka Nora, thinks it’s appropriate to photobomb & flirt with the newly wed groom during an intimate moment (see two posts ago) & gives daggers to his new wife 😂 .
This was after she stole a macaron & jumped into the (thankfully empty) bath in her excitement at being in the 😅🤡🫣🤭.
Luckily she’s cute!

One of my favourite moments on a wedding day is just before the bride leaves the room.

The dress is on, the bouquet is ready, and for a few minutes everything slows down.

There’s usually a quiet pause, a deep breath, a quick look in the mirror, a hug with a parent or a friend. Nothing staged, nothing dramatic. Just real moments before the day moves forward.

It’s a small part of the day, but it always feels significant.

Those in-between moments are often the ones I love photographing most.

Some moments are meant just for the two of you.

Couples bo***ir isn’t simply about photographs it’s about connection, trust, and the quiet intimacy that exists when the rest of the world fades away.

The way you look at each other.
The way you hold each other.
The laughter between moments.

It’s romantic.
It’s a little playful.
And yes… perhaps just a little bit cheeky too.

A celebration of closeness, chemistry, and the beautiful language of two people in love.

Private.
Intimate.
Completely yours.

I’m usually the one behind the camera and rarely share photographs of myself. I’ve also been told more than once that I should probably post more photos of myself here so you know I’m a human 😀

But these two images & the memories mean a lot to me. They were taken by two dear photographer friends of mine who are no longer with us.

Photography has a quiet way of preserving moments and people long after time has moved on. Today I’m sharing these in their honour, and remembering their talent, their kindness, and the way they saw the world through their lenses.

Grateful to have these memories, thank you Roux & Albert 🤍

Looking forward to longer & brighter days ahead. Is anyone else over Winter already?!
Here’s a little throwback to a wedding anniversary trash the dress shoot in a Paris fountain! I can feel a cold coming on just looking at the photos but I promise it was a lovely warm-ish day at the time 😀

We lost our darling Percy one week ago on Monday 10th November age 18 peacefully & gently in my arms & with Nora by his side. To say it’s been a surreal & “punch in the gut” kind of week would be an understatement. For over 12 years he has been my best little man & friend & waking up without him is horrible. Little P (aka Percival, Baby Man, P Man, Piggly Wiggly, Squish, Mr Man, Percy Piggles etc etc 😀) made his way to Paris in early 2013 after a rough start to life. There I met him at his lovely foster mums house & after a lot of French paperwork I got to take him home & the rest is history. From the beaches of the Riviera, the snowy Alps, strutting (him not me) the Parisian streets, finally home to Ireland & everywhere in between he broke little fluffy hearts everywhere. He was the best little friend I could have asked for, through good & less good times, the kindest, bravest & most loyal little guy.
When the time came to expand our family & little Nora joined us he welcomed her with open paws from the first moment he met her - they were instant devoted soulmates. He tolerated mums many house moves & Nora chewing on his legs to make him play with her with his trademark kindness - living with us two ladies can’t have been easy! Too many kisses from mum & a tiny blond bursting with energy & zoomies 😀. There are too many Percy stories to tell here but if you’ve been with us from the beginning then no doubt you’ve heard them all at least once. Our hearts are broken & it’s going to take a while to adjust to our new normal but we’ve no doubt little P is never too far away.
Thank you little man for everything & see you at the rainbow bridge some day 🌈
Adored always.

✨ Bonjour & Dia Dhuit, friends! ✨

I’m Catherine an Irish-born, Europe-based wedding & elopement photographer. My work has taken me from the South of France to the Irish countryside… and even as far as Mexico when love calls! 🌍💌

My style? Think photojournalism with a romantic twist, I blend iconic, cinematic portraits with those delicious in-between moments that you’ll treasure forever. The proud glance from a parent, the belly laugh during the speeches, the twirl you didn’t know I caught.

Photography has been my second great love (after horses - though it’s been a while sadly 🐎), and after years of dreaming, I trained at the Speos Photographic Institute in Paris. Since then, my work has been featured in Style Me Pretty, Elle, Cosmopolitan, One Fab Day, and many more… but the real joy is capturing your story in a way that feels timeless and true.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me:
🐾 Walking my two adorable sidekicks, Percy & Nora
🍫 Enjoying far too much chocolate - if there’s such a thing
🎥 At the cinema or curled up for a cozy movie night
🌅 Chasing sunsets and sunrises
🌷 making lots of plans 😉

If you’re newly engaged, dreaming of eloping to Paris, or planning an elegant celebration in Ireland, or vice versa, you’re in the right place. Let’s make magic together. 💫
