Sometimes all you need is a little perspective. Doug Bruns talks about how he "zoomed out" from 28mm to 125mm, so to speak, to see that the creative life is not a constant, sometimes you have to wait for the well to refill, and the joy of photography should come from the process more than the end result.

Also, can we get a round of applause for ( ‘s 8 year old son) He took the photo of the girl with the cotton candy when he was just 7 years old, earning himself the title of SPM’s youngest Street Shooter of the Month ever!

I also love his caption for the shot: “I’m 7 and went to the Best Buddies walk where I live. This girl made me cotton candy and I took a photo of her. Then I ate my cotton candy. I like the photo because of her arm and because I turned the camera because I was looking at the cotton candy.”

Happy shooting this weekend everyone 📸

The “Gentrified Fortress” 🍎
grecchi writes, “Like many Europeans of my generation, my relationship with New York City began long ago. It was a relationship built on cinema. Growing up in the countryside of Northern Italy, New York wasn’t just a city; it was the center of the world, the backdrop to every story that mattered.

“I finally arrived, and the impact was physical. The dream collided violently with the reality of concrete and dollars. I quickly realized that the New York of the movies—that romantic, accessible playground—no longer exists. It has been replaced by a gentrified fortress.” - excerpt from “NYC Unaffordable” in the May issue of

So glad to have spent the weekend at 🤩

It’s always a joy to meet so many photographers we’ve corresponded with over the years, in person.

“What I’ve come to enjoy most is returning to the same places over and over again. You begin to see the same faces: the same people serving coffee, the same stallholders setting up each week, and the same buskers playing guitar for loose change. The more these people see me walking around with a camera, the more comfortable they seem with my presence. I still get the occasional person asking what I’m doing, but the more time I spend there, the less this seems to happen. Familiarity builds trust, even without conversation.“ - excerpt from “Market Towns in Monochrome” by
