Sports photography is about understanding the sport, not only capturing it.
​While 99% of the photographers moved over to capture Japan and China battling for Gold and Silver during the final discipline, I stayed focused on a different story. I had read a lot before the tournament about Team USA’s strategy and Stephen Nedoroscik. They brought him as a specialist specifically for the Pommel Horse—he was the key they needed to break a long medal drought.
​He waited hours for his turn, and when the moment came, Stephen delivered exactly what was needed. Seeing him realize they had secured the Bronze was a moment that went viral, and I’m glad I trusted my gut and my research to be there for it. It’s a reminder that knowing the "why" behind an athlete’s presence is just as important as the gear you carry. 📸🇺🇸

Sometimes the most powerful photos aren’t of the winner, but of the moment the gold slips away. Seeing the Chinese team after the final was heartbreaking—the raw emotion and the weight of a single mistake that changed everything.
​Sharing the emotion of a silver medal is just as important as celebrating the gold. It’s a reminder of how much sacrifice goes into these few minutes on the floor. In gymnastics, the line between perfection and heartbreak is incredibly thin, and being there to capture that human side of the struggle is what makes this job so intense. 📸💔

I love covering gymnastics, but since it’s not a sport I shoot every day, it’s always a challenge. It takes time to find the rhythm—hunting for the perfect angles and views while working around the strict restrictions we face as photographers.

We can't always get the "perfect" spot, but finding those slivers of light to capture the raw power of the final makes it all worth it. Every sport has its own language, and I’m enjoying learning this one.

Day 2 and the rhythm is starting to set in.
​I spent the afternoon at the group stage match between USA and Germany in Marseille. Watching the USA take the win in such a high-pressure game was incredible. Even with the long travel and the "3-hour sleep" schedule, being pitch-side for the best in the world makes every minute worth it.

​The focus after the game? Getting these frames edited and prepping for the next one. The grind doesn't stop. 💻🔥

I’ve always been drawn to detail photos—the "not action" moments that happen during the height of the action. While everyone is focused on the fast-paced lunges, there is a certain power in the stillness of the equipment.

Day 1 was a long and crazy one. I started with fencing, moved on to Judo, and finished with Rugby Sevens. I quickly realized that navigating Paris during the Olympics is a huge hassle and that good planning is absolutely key—a lesson I learned the hard way on the first day! 😅
​I had never covered any of these sports before and wanted to challenge myself by doing something different. Here are a few frames, but I know I can do better next time. Losing so much time traveling between arenas and covering unfamiliar sports was not ideal.
​I've been "informed/warned" that working from early morning until right after midnight, then editing until 3 or 4 AM for maybe three hours of sleep a night, will be standard. That first day, I knew this would be the reality for the whole tournament. But it is important to show that you can perform at a high level under these conditions. 📸💻
​Most importantly: covering a Summer Olympics is an honor and the biggest fun. 🤗
