【New Photobook】
“photographs” has been published.
Following “flowers” (2021) and “windows” (2023), this book is the final volume in a trilogy created around the theme of “the exchange of gazes,” looking at memory, absence, and presence.
In the closet of the house where my grandparents and father once lived, I found more than one hundred family albums. As I turned their pages, I began to feel that family photographs are not merely private records, but small histories in which countless layers of time and choice are accumulated.
In this work, through a distinctive photographic process, the figures in those photographs are presented not as individual portraits, but as universal images of light.
Although it begins as a record of my own family, I hope this book may also become a memory for someone else.
The publisher is Akaaka, and the book is designed by Kaoru Kasai and Yuki Adachi. They are the people with whom I have carefully built each volume of this trilogy, over time and with great care.
The book also includes an essay, “Inner Light,” by curator Marc Feustel, who has written a deeply thoughtful reading of the work.
The special limited edition is limited to 500 copies, signed and numbered.

『photographs』が出版されました。
『flowers』(2021) 『windows』(2023) に続いて「視線の行き交い」をテーマに、記憶、不在、気配を見つめた三部作の完結編となる作品です。
かつて祖父母や父が暮らしていた家の押し入れから、百冊を超える家族アルバムが見つかりました。ページをめくるうちに、家族写真とは単なる私的な記録ではなく、無数の時間や選択が折り重なった、ひとつの小さな歴史なのだと感じました。
本作では、特殊な撮影工程によって、そこに写る人物たちの姿を、固有の肖像としてではなく、普遍的な光のイメージとして立ち上げています。
僕自身の家族の記録でありながら、誰かにとっての記憶にもなり得る一冊だと思っています。
出版社は赤々舎、装丁は葛西薫さん、安達祐貴さん。三部作の一冊一冊を、時間をかけて、共に丁寧に積み重ねてくださった方々です。
また、キュレーターのマーク・フューステルさんに寄稿文「内なる光」をご執筆頂きました。作品をとても深く読み解いてくださっています。
