Is less more ?

Beauty is sacred to me. Flowers on a table, a ceremony that holds real feeling… I live for these things.

But something has been sitting heavy on me lately. Weddings are starting to feel like movie productions. A quiet competition: who has the most spectacular design, the most Oscar-worthy aesthetic.

And somewhere in that race, the actual story gets lost. Two souls choosing each other. That’s the whole thing.

I want the Vogue feature too. I won’t pretend otherwise. But not if it costs us the authenticity.

I love the first few hours of a wedding. Before it all starts. The stillness and the beauty of it.

I used to think brides wanted to look beautiful in their photographs. And they will. That part takes care of itself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But what I have learned, over years of being in the room before the room fills, is that what they really want is to be seen.
Truly seen.
In the last few hours of being just herself.
Before she becomes someone’s wife.
Before another life begins and this one, the one she has lived entirely as her own, quietly steps aside to make room.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is something almost sacred about that threshold.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The tenderness of it. The weight. The way she holds herself when no one is supposed to be looking.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Beauty is easy to capture.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That feeling is something else entirely. It asks for stillness, for trust, for a photographer who knows when to disappear.

That is what I come for. That is what I will come for you.

I’ve never said this out loud before, but photography, for me, is a spiritual practice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I held back from sharing that for a long time. There’s something vulnerable about using the word « spiritual », it gets misread, judged, flattened into something it’s not.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I think being a spiritual being is just being fully human. Recognizing that we’re not the source, just the channel.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Everything I photograph is, at its core, an attempt to witness God’s creation. Whether it’s two people choosing each other, a flower moving in the wind. A tear rolling down someone’s face. Light breaking through a tree. A woman carrying life inside her. The particular way a face holds something unnameable...

MOTHERS ❣️

Mother’s Day is this Sunday in France. Don’t ask me why we celebrate it on a different day than the rest of the world… I guess because we’re French 🇫🇷 and we can 😂

I grew up in a family where “I love you” was never spoken out loud, never shown through touch or gesture. Photography became my language for that, a way of making the invisible visible. Of saying I love you through the lens. Of capturing what the heart holds but the lips can’t say.

A way of making love permanent. Undeniable. Set in stone.

Because there is nothing more powerful than the bond between a mother and her child.

One of the most healing things I’ve ever done was have my own photo session with my mum. I only wish I hadn’t waited so long.

That’s why I created something special for Mother’s Day :to offer this experience to other mothers and their children. A gift that goes beyond flowers or chocolates. Something that lasts.

Je me souviens ...

Je me souviens de cette photo de classe, j'avais choisi ma chemise préférée, j'avais fait moi même ma coiffure (comme vous pouvez le constater) et j'avais mis mon collier préféré, celui qu'on avait acheté dans une papeterie. Je me souviens car cette photo existe.

Je me souviens de ce sapin de Noël en plastique, de cette pointe dorée qu'on mettait tout en haut, on se battait avec mon frère pour être celui qui l'a poserait, je me souviens de cette moquette que j'ai tâché plein de fois d'ailleurs en coloriant sur mon cahier que je tiens dans les mains, je me souviens du papier peint, de sa texture et de son odeur, je me souviens de ce pouf en cuir qui couinait quand on bougeait. Et ce meuble...qui est toujours chez mes parents. Je me souviens car cette photo existe.

Je me souviens de cette séance photo avec ma mère et ma soeur; de nos fous rires qui cachaient notre pudeur asiatique de montrer notre affection, de se prendre dans les bras, de se dire je t'aime. C'est, je crois, le plus beau cadeau pour ma mère, elle ne le dit pas, mais je l'ai vu et senti. Je me souviens car cette photo existe.

Je me souviens de la période f***e du confinement en 2020, de cette fulgurance créative qui m'a portée à créer une série de photos par jour enfermée chez moi, 55 jours de confinement donc 55 séries de photos... Qui ont finies publiées dans un livre. Je me souviens car ces photos existent.

Ma vie est éphémère, je le sais. J'en capture les instants pour ne pas oublier sa beauté et pour la postérité.
On pense souvent qu'il y a un 'bon moment' pour se créer des souvenirs mais parfois attendre 'plus t**d' devient 'trop t**d'.

Le plus beau cadeau que vous puissiez vous offrir ou offrir à quelqu'un c'est d'honorer votre/sa vie en l'encapsulant dans des souvenirs. Et les souvenirs ne s'effacent pas tant que les photos restent.

BREATHE IN. BREATHE OUT
Inspirer. Expirer. Les 2 seules choses que j'ai, à peu près, pu maîtriser en 2021 😆.

Et ACCUEILLIR. J'ai appris à accueillir.
Une chose étrange qui demande à la fois une sorte d'inaction mais aussi d'acceptation active. Bref, une capacité qu'on devrait apprendre dès gamins si vous me demandez mon avis ! 😆

J'ai appris à Accueillir
l'incertitude,
l'inconfort des remises en questions,
accueillir la confusion des émotions vécues,
la révolte des uns,
la résignation des autres.

Accueillir le deuil, qui nous rappelle la fugacité de notre existence et la futilité de nos débats, nos 'problèmes de riches'.

Mais j'ai aussi ré-appris à reconnaître et accueillir les joies les plus simples,
les matins ensoleillés,
la liesse retrouvée même tamisée,
le réconfort d'une bonne tablée,
les fous rires rares mais précieux,
l'indéfectible sororité des amies choisies,
le silence qui apaise,
les mots/maux qui guérissent,
l'amour des siens qui ne disent souvent rien mais qui vous entourent de leur invisible soutien.

Alors voilà, 2021 je t'ai accueillie comme j'ai pu, t'as été une sacrée année. 2022, on t'attend t'as pas idée, allez fais nous kiffer (steuplééé 🙏🏻) !
