A little bit of architecture: Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Its construction finished in 2007. The main architect - Yusef Abdelki - took inspiration from a number of sources: the Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi Mosque in Alexandria, the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan and other references of Persian, Mughal, and Indo-Islamic architecture.

I've seen it twice - in full sun and in the evening. At dusk the light falling on the walls of the building softened its forms and gave it an almost fairy-tale aura, while in full sun it emphasized great monumentalism and purity of white walls.
