Through the green-breasted door, half a cross holding the threshold, Mary and Christ stand in the candlelit dark, patient as old prayers, waiting for the world to enter.

Part of my ongoing look at Repetitives . This sequence follows a Covent Garden street performer through a few moments of his act. Repetition becomes the subject; each frame appears similar, yet subtle changes in gesture, movement, and audience reaction reveal the passage of time.

My Children Are the Same as Yours

Hidden within the streets of Naples, I came across this shrine carrying a message that stopped me in my tracks:

"Leave a flower for my children. My children are the same as yours."

In a city where faith, memory, and everyday life intertwine, these words feel especially powerful. They remind us that beyond borders, beliefs, and politics, we share a common humanity. The love for a child, the pain of loss, and the hope for peace are experiences that connect us all.

Sometimes, peace begins with a simple act of empathy recognising that the lives of others hold the same value as those closest to us.

The flowers left here are more than offerings; they are gestures of remembrance, compassion, and a quiet acknowledgement that our lives are bound together in ways we often forget.

Within, Without: The City

Naples unfolded as a collection of lives moving alongside one another. Some belonged to the city, woven into its streets through work, routine, and memory. Others passed through briefly, carrying cameras, luggage, or curiosity. Some sought rest by the sea, while others laboured beneath the afternoon sun.

As I walked with my camera, I found myself both within and without the city, present in its rhythm yet observing from the edges. These photographs are fragments of those encounters, moments where lives briefly intersected before continuing on their separate paths.

Together they form a portrait not of Naples itself, but of the people who give it breath. A city of arrivals and departures, labour and leisure, solitude and community, all existing at once beneath the same sky.

This new stop-motion in the WORKS uses the repetitive movement of ships navigating their courses to reflect the rhythms, routines, and recurring journeys that shape our lives.

Meet me at 55 Broadway; I'll be the man beneath the Underground roundel, wearing a bowler hat and watching the mouths of strangers for your name.

The station swallows trains, the city swallows hours, and still I remain, one small shadow at St. James's Park, waiting for the face that never quite arrives.
