It's not just about the photos. It's about how they can show you a new perspective on yourself, on your people, and give you a jolt of gratitude for your life and your loves.

Then you print and frame the images, so you get that love reflected back to you daily in your living space.

I know we’re only a few steps into spring, but as a photographer working with families, I’m on the road to Mother’s Day already.

This year, what if you give mom, or grandma, an experience of a lifestyle portrait session that celebrates her family, with her being showcased and in the spotlight?

Let’s create a moment where everything slows down. No one’s on a screen, just together, and getting some great photos at the same time.

This year I’m offering sessions at 280€ (instead of 350€)
if booked by the end of April.
Paris / Fontainebleau / Île-de-France

Book for yourself, or offer it as a memorable gift.
Send me a message if you’d like details 💛

The first flowers are filling out the skeleton winter trees, it’s time to go out and make some family photos, n’est-ce pas ? :)

The word of the Chinese New Year and its running fire horse is, for me, “onward.” Part of that is Marie Kondo-ing some cluttered spaces, and boxes I haven’t opened in YEARS.

I’m recycling up a storm, and finding some little relics and treasures, like my 20-something self at my photo school, probably about 2004 or 2005, doing a lighting exercise.

I’ve also kept two film development canisters that I haven’t used since probably 2006! And you know what? They still bring me joy. I love them. I really love them. I loved developing film. They’re stainless steel, they’ll last another century, in case my great great grandkids need them? 😂

Anyway. I’ve loved photography for a very long time. I’m going to load my film camera…

I recently photographed Christine Audat, who I’ve done portraits several years ago, and who has become a dear friend.
She’s a French-Peruvian singer, songwriter, musician, with voice of an angel (if you can see her live, don’t miss the opportunity) and the heart of a warrior.
Talented, visionary, and deeply kind.
The kind of artist who makes sound feel like memory.

Her new album, Hamaca, is in the works.

Showing up is hard some days. I have tears and anger just behind my eyes every day. A friend mentioned ice, as in ice cubes, the other day and I felt a jolt of emotion through my heart. I come here to IG to learn, to be inspired, and to share. I have a business and I wear all the hats. One of them is promoting it, to keep the wheels turning. But I haven’t been showing up here much lately. The world feels so heavy.

I remind myself that my work matters. We all matter. Part of my passion for photography is honoring this moment. Celebrating it, immortalizing it. The good stuff. I always knew my role wasn’t war photojournalism. I didn’t want to be on the front lines of anything. I didn’t think the front lines would come so close. And I’m over here in France, not with my family in the Chicago suburbs. Not in Minnesota. But my friends are. My family are.

Here where I am, I still hold space for people in front of my camera. Right now that feels kind of radical, maybe even more important. Celebrating connections between family members, even in portraits of one person. I always say every portrait is a relationship. You have to choose the right photographer who you feel comfortable with. It doesn’t have to be me, but it has to be a conscious choice not based just on price or how many photos you get. It’s the human behind the camera that counts. You come to be seen, and share that rendering of who you are with the world, or just with yourself.

And today, I’m showing up here because I need to keep choosing presence. Grief and creation can live in the same breath.

I'm creating some cyanotypes for the local Christmas market, with the La Chouette au Loing. It's on our charming main square, the weekend before Christmas, and there will be many delightful artist-hand-made gifts to make your heart feel full.

Technically Black Friday starts tomorrow (not two weeks ago, when I started getting emailed like I was in a snowball fight).

I remember as a child in the Chicago burbs, seeing on the news that all these people had stood in line outside for hours, to get the best deals. You had to actually GO there, IN PERSON!!

We never did. We put up our Christmas tree and stayed in pjs half the day.

Anyway, here I am, ages later, living in France and seeing this American non-holiday exported earth-wide. And here I am coming up with a crazy offer, which actually feels pretty fun because it's generous. And it's Thanksgiving today. So thank you to those who follow my work, who trust me, who stand in front of me and my camera. I love what I do and I appreciate all of you.

For the next week, you can Expand your Euros

Unlock double-value photo credits this week only. Buy a 200–500€ credit and receive twice the amount toward portrait, branding, or family photography sessions by Danielle Voirin. Limited-time Black Friday offer.
