An Escape Above the World

Another place in Iceland that felt absolutely surreal—and one I had been so eager to visit! The road to get there was definitely the longest and wildest I’ve ever taken. My back will probably remember it forever, haha! The weather kept changing by the minute, so we had to face whatever came our way: wind, rain, muddy paths, slippery stairs..

But above all that, the hardest part was communicating with the dog’s owner, who was so far away from me. I wanted to photograph the dog on that mountain, but giving directions meant going all the way down and then back up again to explain what I needed based on what I saw from my vantage point. It was such a challenge—but they did incredibly well, and the final image turned out exactly as I had imagined. In this particular shot, I made the dog appear larger than in reality, just to emphasize the feeling of presence in that vast landscape.

My New Online Dog Photography Masterclass is Live ✨

Over the past few years, I’ve been teaching through workshops and online sessions, but I’ve never created a truly comprehensive online course—until now. This Masterclass is dedicated to dog photography, with a special focus on capturing dogs in breathtaking landscapes.

This way of photographing dogs has completely captured my heart. It has driven me to seek out incredible locations, create meaningful images, and continuously learn and refine my craft. Now, I’m excited to share everything I’ve discovered with you.

What will you find in this masterclass?

Well… hopefully, all the answers you’re looking for! Here’s what I’ve planned for you:

- Live Lessons – Deep dives into technical skills and editing, from start to finish. I’ll share my most valuable tips for capturing dogs in both portrait and landscape photography. If you can't be there during the live, you can watch the recording! It will be available at any time after the live.

- Image Critique Sessions – Get live feedback on your photos to help you overcome doubts and refine your skills.

- Monthly Quests – Each month, a new theme will challenge you to experiment and explore new techniques. Plus, the winner of each quest will receive some exciting rewards!

- Community & Collaboration – Dedicated spaces to connect, share, and collaborate with fellow photographers.
And of course, much more along the way!

If you're passionate about dog portrait and landscape photography, this Masterclass is for you—take a look!

« Through the Elements »

This image of Þruma will be my favorite from my workshop in Iceland. Fjallsárlón is a place that stole my heart, not only because it’s less crowded than other glacier lakes, but also because of the many beautiful views you can find there.

I was hoping for calm weather that day, and somehow my prayers were answered! We had to drive for 2 hours and 30 minutes in pouring rain, but in the end… no wind, a beautiful sky, and no rain. We enjoyed an amazing photoshoot with the unstoppable Þruma, a Dalmatian who can run endlessly.

Thanks to the calm weather, we captured this beautiful reflection in one of the tiny lakes uphill. With the Vatnajökull glacier in the distance, the background couldn’t have been any better.

After that, Þruma’s mom told us that there were many icebergs on Diamond Beach. So we hurried there, as it was only 10 minutes from our current location. We were blessed with the most incredible sunset of our lives (I bet it wasn’t just mine). At Jökulsárlón, the colors exploded in a way that words can’t fully capture. I didn’t take any decent photos because I preferred to watch this fleeting moment with my own eyes.

In Cold Light

The Nordic countries seem to nourish my soul. While my thick, wavy hair might prefer the warmth and dryness of other climates, my heart longs for the soft, cold days here.

These three days spent alone in Iceland have been truly healing. I’m eagerly anticipating tomorrow, when a new adventure begins on this island, joined by fellow photographers who share my passion for capturing the beauty of dogs in stunning landscapes.

Missing my own dogs dearly, I’m also thrilled to meet our incredible models. The diversity and beauty of these chosen dogs are simply breathtaking.

In this image taken yesterday, you can see Skundi, a brave 10-month-old pup who fearlessly leapt onto this rock. I’ve wanted to visit this spot ever since I became fascinated with the country, but it’s only now that I finally made it here. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking and inspired me a lot of feelings.

Eyes of Morocco - 2023

Morocco is not only known for its breathtaking sand dunes and vibrant Medinas; it is also a country where countless dogs face dire conditions. Having witnessed the challenging situation for stray dogs in Romania in 2018, I was struck by the even harsher reality in Morocco. The number of stray dogs and their living conditions are heartbreaking.

Last winter, I visited SFT - Animal Sanctuary, an organization dedicated to providing refuge, secure homes, sterilization, vaccination, and care for unwanted animals, as well as treating sick or abused animals. In Tangier alone, there are an estimated 30,000 stray dogs, with around 3 million across Morocco. Their solution, Project Hayat, meaning ‘LIFE’, aims to address this crisis. Every year, thousands of dogs are tragically killed due to fear of rabies and attempts to control the stray population. The only humane solution is TNVT – Treat, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Tag (also known as TNR).

Please take a moment to visit their website, which I will share in the comments, to make a donation. Your support can help create a better world for animals in Morocco.

Sharing is highly appreciated

Stargazing

I didn’t imagine that wandering in the Sahara at night would be the best thing to do! We arrived when it was more or less a full moon, so we could also experience some very bright nights in the desert.

It was also my favorite time because of the complete silence you can experience. No people, no buggies, no 4x4s, not even a single breeze. Just the moon, the dunes, and us. I spent hours in the desert after sunset just to witness this pure beauty and feeling of calmness.

I’m glad I took my tripod with me on this trip to capture these memories, and this image of Laos. After shooting in JPEG for two days because I accidentally changed my shooting mode, I still had the motivation to go back and walk in the sand for hours to get new shots! Now I just made sure that all my shooting modes are set to raw. 😅

Transient Silhouette

While I’m sitting in my van somewhere in the Netherlands, I had a look back at the images created during my past workshop in this beautiful country. We went to the beautiful heather fields and captured some very beautiful dog models in different conditions.

During my scouting, I saw a girl with her two dogs walking past this tree and enjoying the sunset. I felt very inspired by this scene, yet so simple. So I decided to share it with the participants for our last session together. We had one of the most beautiful sunset, and our dog models were just incredible. When everything aligns so perfectly, I wish I could freeze the time for a few more hours.

Distant Echoes

The Krafla geothermal lands stand out as one of the most breathtaking destinations I’ve had the privilege to explore. This northern corner of Iceland might just be my top pick, thanks to its relatively untouched beauty and the significantly fewer tourists compared to the bustling southern regions. The landscape offers an astonishing variety, from massive waterfalls and mysterious caves to geothermal sites and their dramatic craters, each sight more mesmerizing than the last.

Perched atop the Víti crater, whose name translates to « hell, » I was enveloped in a surreal atmosphere. Despite the snowfall and fierce winds that day, nothing could deter Bósi from embracing the majesty of his vast, natural kingdom.

Sea of Feelings

Throwback to one of my favorite shoots at the ocean back in 2020. After a beautiful golden hour, we were blessed with twilight moments.

This dog might be one of my favorite models I’ve ever worked with! Yakutian Laikas are not so common in some countries, but in France, there are quite a lot of beautiful ones with many different colors.

I’m filled with nostalgia as I browse through these older photos, especially knowing that the dog owner is now living her dream in Sweden surrounded by all her dogs!

Sahara’s Silent Symphony

I finally dare to share this image taken during our first trip to the desert with Laos. Our journey to Morocco wasn’t always easy, but it left me with incredible memories.

The desert was my favorite place, despite the fact that it’s not always as you imagine: tourists on camels, 4x4s, and buggies. If you walk a little further into the desert, you’ll find yourself almost alone. I think I will go even further the next time I travel there!

I have to thank my best model, Laos, for being such a brave dog and following me on my journey. After all, it’s International Love Your Pet Day today!

Dogs are not loved in this country, which makes me sad. There are many stray dogs there that would be so happy to find a family. Unfortunately, the government doesn’t help associations in Morocco to make dogs’ lives better. The only thing you can do is feed them and give them some love. I wish more people could understand how wonderful creatures dogs are.
