22 pitches. 33 pitches. Two firsts. One hell of a year. 🧗♂️
This year, Chris Brelsford and I set out to see how far two adaptive climbers could push it.
First, we climbed Squawstruck — 22 pitches and roughly 2,000 feet — the longest bolted multi-pitch route in the United States.
Then we went north.
We just finished Guaranteed Rugged in British Columbia — 33 pitches and 3,500+ feet — the longest bolted multi-pitch route in North America.
And as far as we know, no para duo had climbed either route before us.
🇺🇸 Squawstruck — 22 pitches
🇨🇦 Guaranteed Rugged — 33 pitches
Two of the biggest bolted multi-pitch routes on the continent.
Two adaptive climbers.
One ridiculous amount of climbing.
Chris Brelsford , I couldn’t have asked for a better partner for these adventures. Thank you for sharing the same obsession, pushing through the hard days, and being willing to dream big and then actually go climb it. There aren’t many people who understand why I love climbing the way I do, but you do.
Huge thank you to The New Standard In Chalk , Evolv and Black Diamond Equipment for supporting me and helping make these adventures possible.
And to FSHD Society — thank you for continuing to support the FSHD community. I hope what we’re doing can inspire someone else to look at what’s possible rather than what’s supposed to be impossible.
So… what should this para duo climb next?
