Hotmilk Break Battle 30th Year Anniversary
I want to take this special moment to write a love letter to my crew, my family, Hotmilk Breakers.
Man, where can i start ? I’ve loved hip-hop since i was a kid, riding my skateboard in those small streets, long before i even knew breaking would become a part of my life. Going on YouTube, finding a video of a battle between Junior & Physicx, and trying to learn how to break like those guys on the cold floor of my house. That’s how it all started.
After many years, i met my brother , who invited me to a training session at a place called Le Verger. That’s where i first met everybody from the crew. Everyone was fresh and dope. Me, in between those guys, just trying to do a clean six-step… but i loved it.
I was never the most disciplined guy. I’ve always been doing breaking for fun, and watching all those guys training hard inspired me so much.
After years of training and hanging out together, a brotherhood started to grow. New members joined the crew, a new generation was born. At that time, i wasn’t officially in the crew, and i didn’t even care, because for me, the most important thing i had was my brothers and sisters around me. Just enjoying life.
I never really battled. I’ve always dance just for the fun of it.
No pressure, just pure fun. That’s why i never even thought for a second about being part of this crew.
But here we are. New year 2023, we were dancing at BR House, an OG from the crew, when and called my name to bring me into the crew. At first, i thought it was a joke. In my head i was like, “hell nah, not me.” But no, it was real.
I did a round with every members of the crew who was there, in that tiny kitchen. Not gonna lie, i was a little drunk hahaha.
Never in my life i would think to become a member of a crew.
So i want to give a big THANK YOU to life for bringing me this moment, to Vinh & F***y who decided at that moment to let me in, and to all my brothers and sisters from the crew.
We don’t say it that much to each other, but from the bottom of my heart: I LOVE YOU 🤍
