Mediterranean light
A huge mediterranean thunderstorm developed over the sea during the last night and moved along the coast until dawn over Juan-les-Pins (Alpes Maritimes, 06, France).
The structure was pretty much insane as the sun was illuminating the base and the green colour in the background was revealing a high potential of heavy hail. The lightning activity was particularly amazing such as on this shot, as this strike illuminated the heart of the storm structure from the top to the bottom!

Un puissant orage méditerranéen s'est développé en mer la nuit dernière et a remonté le long des côté varoises jusqu'à Juan-les-Pins (Alpes maritimes, 06, France).
La structure était vraiment extraordinaire alors que le soleil illuminait la base et la couleur verte dans le fond montrait le gros potentiel de production de grêle un peu plus loin. L'activité électrique aura été particulièrement impressionnante comme sur ce cliché, où un éclair a illuminé la base en la traversant de part en part !

Celestial duo
An isolated and powerful thunderstorm formed yesterday evening on the French Riviera. Electrical activity was particularly intense with amazing cloud to ground lightnings!
While moving along the coast toward Italy, a red moon began to rise...

Duo céleste
Un orage isolé et puissant s'est développé en fin de soirée d'hier sur la Côte d'Azur. Avec une activité particulièrement intense, certains éclairs s'échappaient du sommet du nuage vers le sol produisant un spectacle incroyable !
Alors que la cellule s'évacuait vers l'Italie, la Lune rougeâtre a commencé à se lever...

The Airplane
A quite strong instability triggered the creation of a powerful thunderstorm near Saint-Tropez yesterday evening. The shape was truly incredible! The photo has been taken while the storm was moving across Fréjus bay.

L'Avion
La forte instabilité d'hier a engendré des orages puissants aux structures réellement impressionnantes dans l'Est du Var. Le cliché pris hier en fin de soirée témoigne d'un orage particulièrement violent après qu'il se soit formé vers Saint Tropez. L'image a été prise alors que la cellule traversait la baie de Fréjus.

A record breaking heat wave in southern France came to an end yesterday night as thunderstorms hit the region. I've finally been able to take a couple of pictures of an amazing lightning show like this spider!

Après un incroyable épisode de canicule qui a battu des records dans les régions méditerranéennes, les orages se sont enfin manifestés en début de soirée d'hier avec un beau spectacle électrique comme en témoigne ce spider!

When you have enough time during the storm to experiment new photo scenes!
This photo is a long exposure single frame and has been shot at the end of the storm. Lightning activity became rare but more powerful with illumination all over the sky. The blue color was really characteristic.

Cette photo est une image unique réalisée en pose longue depuis la plage de Nice à la fin de l'orage. Les éclairs étaient alors rares mais plus puissants. Le ciel contrasté s'illuminait alors d'une couleur bleue très caractéristique.

Crazy lightning activity off the coast of Nice, France last friday evening!

Impressionnant orage d'hiver au large de Nice vendredi soir dernier ! Une heure et demie d'activité électrique observable depuis le bord de mer avec des éclairs toutes les 10 secondes environ pendant la phase la plus active. Un excellent début de saison !
