Solo trip to AlUla, Saudi Arabia
AlUla felt like stepping straight into a giant open-air gallery — surreal artworks from the AlUla Arts Festival 2026 rising dramatically from the desert, while the Old Town’s labyrinth of mud-brick alleys quietly murmured stories of caravans, traders, and centuries of life.
Hegra with its monumental Nabataean tombs carved into glowing sandstone cliffs, so majestic they make you instinctively lower your voice. But my favourite is Maraya – the world’s largest mirrored building.
Unexpected highlight? An endless, silky-smooth bike lane stretching through vast, empty desert — just me, the wind, and miles of freedom.
And the perfect plot twist: just as I was leaving, Prince William arrived in AlUla too… proof that clearly, great explorers travel in good company 😉
