🟡 [ Carabus auratus] 🟡

🇫🇷- Un tableau de couleurs iridescentes, des mandibules acérées et un appétit pour les limaces, j'ai nommé, le Carabe doré.

Très apprécié des jardiniers, il consomme les parasites tels que limaces et les escargots, mais également les vers de terre. Il saisit ses proies avec ses mandibules et leur applique une sécrétion digestive avant de les consommer.

À table !

🇬🇧- A painting of iridescent colors, sharp mandibles and an appetite for slugs, I present, the golden ground beetle!

Welcomed warmly by gardeners, it consumes parasites such as slugs and snails, but also earthworms. It seizes its prey with its mandibles and applies a digestive juice before consuming them.

Dinner is served!

🇫🇷- Portrait d'un Hanneton commun mâle vu de face pour aujourd'hui.
Les biologistes parmis nous, ça vous rappelle quelque-chose la structure de leurs antennes ?
J'avais shooté ce spécimen il y a plus d'un an maitnenant, et ça reste un des stacks qui me plaît le plus parmis les centaines que j'ai pu faire depuis.

🇬🇧- Time for a good old Frontal portrait of a cockchafer or Maybug. For the biologists reading this, anything special structurally wise comes to mind when you look at the end of their antaena?
This is a stack I shot well over a year ago, and it remains until now one of my favorites amongst the hundreds of others I have shot since.

🕷️ [ Marpissa muscosa ] 🕷️

🇫🇷- J'avais parlé de deux portraits effectués de ce spécimen de Marpissa muscosa avant qu'il soit endommagé par ma solution de stockage, voici le deuxième, à grandissement plus important.

🇬🇧- I was only able to get two stacks out of this subject before the eyes got destroyed by my storage liquid, so like promised, here's the second one, at a higher magnification to outline the wonderful eyes of jumping spiders. It's no surprise that they're some of the favorite subjects in Macro Photography

🕷️[ Pholcus phalangioides ] 🕷️

🇫🇷- Mon colocataire préféré me dites vous ?
C'est lui 😎
Il me débarrasse de ces satanés moustiques, des mites et de mes éventuelles fourmis évadés...

(Rassurez vous, Bob le phloque va bien, ça c'est sa belle tante que j'ai retrouvé morte par terre en rentrant un jour)

"Comme toutes les araignées, cette espèce est prédatrice et se nourrit de petits insectes volants se prenant à sa toile. Mais elle est également capable de se nourrir d'autres araignées, dont la très redoutée v***e noire par exemple. Si son venin n'est pas le plus mortel, ce sont ses longues pattes qui lui accordent un avantage décisif sur de nombreuses araignées en gardant ses adversaires à distance tout en les enroulant avec rapidité dans de la soie"

Totalement innofensive pour l'humain au passage 👌

🇫🇷 - Ça faisait longtemps tiens 😎 ! Voici un portrait rêveur et crémeux de notre "grande saltique", Marpissa muscosa. J'ai eu la chance, après des mois et des mois de recherche, de tomber sur un spécimen en bon état récemment décédé au bord d'une fenêtre à la maison, du coup ni une ni deux, je l'ai nettoyée et mise sous les feux des projecteurs au studio, en stacking, comme d'habitude ! Malheureusement, j'ai raté la solution de stockage 😓, ce qui a entrainé une dégradation des yeux importante, la rendant désormais inutilisable...
J'ai pu en tirer deux portraits en total !

🇬🇧 - It's been a while hasn't it 😎 ! Here is a dreamy portrait of a jumping spider, Marpissa muscosa. I was lucky enough, after months and months of failure, to stumble upon a recently deceased specimen in an accetable condition on a windowsill at home, so without waiting, I cleaned it up and put in the studio for some deep stacking as per usual! Unfortunately, I messed up the storage solution 😓, which led to a significant degradation of the eyes, making it unusable...
I was able to get two portraits out of it in total!

Une plaie pour les chevaux, ces poignards volants sont sans relâche quand il s'agit d'obtenir un breuvage haemoglobiné !!

🇫🇷 - Après la vue dorsale de la femelle hier, voici un portrait du mâle de cette même espèce.

Il se différencie notamment par ses antennes beaucoup plus développés que chez la femelle, nécessaires à la captation des pheromones de ces dernières pour la reproduction.

Je posterai une photo à plus gros grandissement d'une antenne dans les jours à venir

🇬🇧 - After the dorsal view of the female yesterday, here's a portrait of the male from the same species. Notice the extremely developed antennaes, used for finding the female's pheromone trails during mating.

🇫🇷 - Petite pause avec les araignées (promis j'en ai plein d'autres en stock, ça viendra), pour aller faire un tour dans le monde des lepidoptères, et leurs détails incroyables.

Pour commencer, communément appelé la Hachette (allez savoir pourquoi avec les noms vernaculaires), voici une vue dorsale d'une belle femelle.

Le mâle se différencie notamment par ses antennes en peigne, gardez l'œil ouvert ces prochains jours, c'est un prochain post 😉

Here is a dorsal shot of a female moth called Tau emperor (much cooler than the French name tbh)
