I am not ill. I am neurodivergent. My brain is « different. »

All my life, I have struggled to adapt to a normative environment that was out of sync with my sensitivity. All my life, I wanted to be perceived as part of a group I never truly belonged to. “Too much of this, not enough of that.” “Has potential, but doesn’t live up to it…”

That struggle (far more exhausting than neurodivergence itself) came to an end with a late diagnosis. “Oh, but surely you must have known? We’d all noticed…” Well, no. I hadn’t.

This new way of understanding myself enlightened me, shook me, and ultimately brought me peace. It was through accepting who I am that METAMORPHOPSIA was born.

Metamorphopsia is a visual perception disorder in which the shape, size, colour, or spatial arrangement of what we see appears distorted, even though the object itself remains unchanged.

By using one “disorder” as an allegory for another, and by questioning the very notion of reality, I continue my search for that place where everything is calm, silent, peaceful, and filled with light.

Photography and ultra are merely a pretext, a surface layer of something far deeper.
