When I started building this rack, I wasn’t sure it would work. A few evenings in the garage, a lot of measuring, a few things that didn’t fit the first time. Now I clip the board on the side, check it twice, and ride off.
Riding through the city with a surfboard on the side still feels a bit strange. People turn their heads at the traffic lights, someone always smiles, and once in a while someone asks where the waves are. Actually, that’s one of my favourite parts of the day.
My local surf spot is something truly special it’s in the middle of the city, and it’s not a beach break, it’s a standing river wave wich increases in size in winter. The is a small tolerance for error when it comes to maneuvering and tricks to not hit concrete but today I managed to perform a rail grab cut back
Afterwards I stand next to the bike for a while with wet hair and sandy boots, and I don’t really have to be anywhere. For me, that’s what this whole thing is about. Not the big trips, just ordinary days that belong to you.
