In a few days, the species will have disappeared from our hedgerows and other bushes to regain Africa for winter!

Black kite - Milan noir

On search for carrion or rodents, kites can circle very close above head, which makes photography a lot easier! This one was also struggling with wind, only gliding slowly above me.

Eurasian spoonbill

A couple of breeding sites are known in Western France for the spoonbill. Here, in Hiers-Brouage marshes, when they are not in the heronry, tending their Nesta, they are looking for food in the ponds and river banks! This one was relatively unbothered by me and actively probing the mud with its unique beak.

Long-tailed tit - Mésange à longue queue

Since the early of May, we can see long-tailed t**s families wandering about. They are usually a lot and quite loud! This one was part of group and by its dark facial pattern, this a juvenile from this year! It might pay off being an early breeder as heat waves are getting more frequent in summer.

Dusting off my bee eater photo shelf two weeks ago!

After watching European bee eater flying around a nesting site along the Vienne river, I decided to continue with my day until this guy decided hunting insects from the electric line along the road I was driving! Such a nice moment!

Rock pipit - Pipit maritime

It was already the end of the first chick rearing of the season for these pipits! Some fledglings were already wandering about on the islands of the Hoat archipelago, parents fetching moth for them all day long.

The final migration stretch for the European honey buzzards (Bondrée apivore). Most of them have already arrived on their breeding grounds now. This is one was circling with its probable mate so likely to breed nearby now!
