Hermit thrush - Grive solitaire

This was the only sighting of the species during our 4 month stay in Alaska! They seem quite discreet in August and only passing over Middleton Island (our main location) before that.

Let's continue with the Alaska flashback with this lovely fox sparrow (Bruant fauve), of the sooty subspecies, found in Western North America. This subspecies is significantly darker and less colourful than the 'red' fox sparrow of the East of the continent for instance!

Eurasian spoonbill

A couple of breeding sites are known in Western France for the spoonbill. Long-tailed tit - Mésange à longue queue

Since the early of May, we can see long-tailed t**s families wandering about. They are usually a lot and quite loud! This one was part of group and by its dark facial pattern, this a juvenile from this year! It might pay off being an early breeder as heat waves are getting more frequent in summer.
