Through Resonance Entertainment's partnership as an Event Partner for the 2026 Film Fiji Kula Awards, our Resonance Media team had the opportunity to be part of the recent Mana Island trip supporting students participating in the Film Category.

It was an incredible learning experience for our crew, allowing us to witness firsthand the creativity, dedication, and hard work being invested into developing Fiji's next generation of storytellers and filmmakers.

We're grateful to play a small role in supporting initiatives that nurture artistic expression and provide opportunities for young Fijians to grow their skills, tell their stories, and pursue their creative passions.

The future of Fiji's creative industry is bright, and we're excited to see where these young talents take it🎥✨

Resonance Entertainment’s band, VEGAS 6, has released their newest single “Kauwai”, a collaboration with Naomi, one of the lead vocalists of Fiji’s first all-female band, MARAMA. The track is already being recognised as a defining moment for the band, blending smooth R&B with traditional Fijian “sigidrigi” while amplifying female representation in the Pacific music scene.

Speaking on behalf of the band, guitarist and vocalist John Kado reflected on the release, “VEGAS 6 is excited to release our new song featuring Naomi. We believe many people who have faced challenges and heartbreak will be able to connect with the lyrics, as the song was written straight from the heart. We hope it brings comfort, strength, and reminds listeners that they’re not alone in what they’re going through.”

He shared that the collaboration was both a creative and strategic decision, saying, “We felt Naomi from MARAMA was the perfect choice for this collab because of the emotion and softness in her vocals, which beautifully captured the song’s sad and heartfelt tone.”

“Kauwai” is described as the band’s first Kavoro song, born from John Kado’s lyrical vision and Jone Tanoa’s chord transitions. The track carries a formal Fijian expression of the need to be loved, with standout lyrics such as “Ko Sega kina ni tatau niu galili” that are sure to resonate with listeners.

Naomi’s expressive delivery brought unexpected magic to the studio sessions. “Naomi made the song her own in her verses and chorus with expressive singing.” Kado added that her presence represents “the often-unheard voice in our traditional Fijian settings.”

The vibe of “Kauwai” is captured in three words: “Smooth, R&B, Sigidrigi.” The message is universal, “Be appreciative of all the simple things you have,” Kado emphasised. For the band, the single is part of a larger mission to put Fijian music on the global stage.

Looking ahead, VEGAS 6 has more projects in the pipeline, including collaborations with Fo Sho and InsideOut, while continuing to refine their sound and image for both Fijian followers and those around the world.

“Kauwai” is now available on all major streaming platforms, with the official music video on the Resonance Entertainment YouTube channel.
