Yesterday, the family of Vunavauvau House gathered for the presentation of their magiti for the ‘Valuju ni Qwele’— a traditional practice known by this name in the Nadroga dialect, although similar customs may be known by other names in different parts of Fiji.

When a family builds or establishes their home on a yavu that traditionally belongs to another family, a magiti is presented to that family in acknowledgement of their connection to the yavu. It is an important expression of veidokai, veiwekani and vakavanua — respect, relationships and the recognition of those who came before us.

Traditions such as the ‘Valuju ni Qwele’ remind us of the importance of knowing our connections, respecting our yavu and preserving the customs handed down through generations.

The gathering was made even more special as family and loved ones celebrated the 5th birthday of Adi Kelerayani Sovanatabua. 🎂🎉❤️

A beautiful day where vakavanua, veiwekani and celebration came together.

All good things must come to an end. 💙✨

A well-deserved celebration for the hardworking players, coaches, officials and everyone behind the Coastal Magics Netball Club. After a season of dedication, sacrifice, growth and achievements, this was their moment to sit back, celebrate and be proud of how far they’ve come.

What a beautiful way to close the season and create memories that will last a lifetime. 🏆💙

Until next season, Coastal Magics! ✨
