Some nights are simply too improbable to plan for.
On Utö, the Perseids were streaking across the sky while a distant thunderstorm kept flashing over the Baltic. A rare overlap of two completely unrelated phenomena — comet fragments burning up above, and lightning exploding far beyond the horizon. I’ve photographed plenty of night skies, but conditions like these may come only once in a lifetime. ⚡️☄️
