What does it mean to particip
ate in a mocap experiment? If you come to our lab, this is what you can expect:
* The researchers will greet you upon arrival and find a motion capture suit that will fit you comfortably. These suits are cleaned after every use. The suits make it easy to attach small, reflective markers to your body. You've probably seen similar suits being used to make big Hollywood movies!
* The markers are the only things that our motion capture cameras can "see," so that only your movements are recorded.
* The researchers will give you instructions and make sure you are comfortable and ready before beginning the experiment. "Beginning the experiment" usually means turning on some music.
* During the experiment, researchers will be behind a privacy screen for your comfort. They will be available to answer any questions or help you with any problems at any time during the experiment.
* After the experiment is over, the researchers can tell you more about what we are trying to study. The reason we do not tell all of this in the beginning is not to trick you, but because we want you to do whatever comes naturally to you rather than worrying about doing the "right" thing for our research.
* If you like, you can give feedback to the researchers about what you liked and didn't like about the experiment.
