I demonstrated the Orton effect on this roosting female Common Blue butterfly on my recent Yorkshire macro workshop. This creates a more dream-like and delicate look - ideal for this subject. I’ve had an amazing week with this wonderful group on my “Capture to Print: Yorkshire Mix” workshop! During the week we visited and photographed some beautiful Yorkshire landscapes around the coast, moors and dales. We then processed and produced 3 beautiful Giclee prints each using my ‘first time, every time’ method of printing to gallery standards. It was a full-on week which, for me, starts again with another group arriving again this evening!😀

It’s been a busy summer of workshops this year with my 7th week-long workshop ending with a wonderful dawn in Staithes, North Yorkshire. This workshop was my Moors, Dales and Coast workshop where the group were shown many techniques throughout the week - one of which was getting up at 4am! 🥱😁

These last few months have been quite challenging one way or another but I’ve still been managing to run quite a few workshops here in Yorkshire. So I thought I’d post this beautiful sunrise from Saltburn taken on my Yorkshire Variety workshop in early July for It was a challenging 3am alarm that was worth getting out of bed for!

Our wonderful mum passed away a few weeks ago - her funeral was on Friday. Mum was the biggest supporter of my work and she’ll be truly missed. This image from the Lofoten Islands was one of her favourites as it means a lot to both of us. That’s because sadly, Mum’s daughter (my sister), Linda died on the very day I took this picture a few years ago and I like to think she had a part in it spiritually. Rest in peace, Mum. I hope you, dad and Linda are having a great time now you’re together once again. ###

The last day of my Yorkshire Dales photography masterclass found us in my favourite wild garlic woodland where I demonstrated techniques such as multiple exposure landscapes and macro focus-stacking. It was great fun even in the sporadic showers we experienced!
