Project 84, Day 3 - Between The Fogs

Today's subject is atmosphere. These images were shot with a telephoto lens from Mirador de Pedrices near Las Medulas village we visited in December. Every morning was a real fog spectacle in the valley. So when you aren't finding the desired light, turn to conditions instead and maybe you will even find the light hidden there. Nature is a true playground.

El tema de hoy es la atmósfera. Estas imágenes fueron tomadas con una lente tele desde el Mirador de Pedrices cerca del pueblo de Las Medulas que visitamos en diciembre. Cada mañana era un verdadero espectáculo de niebla en el valle. Entonces, cuando no encuentre la luz deseada, recurra a las condiciones y tal vez incluso encuentre la luz escondida allí. La naturaleza es un verdadero patio de recreo.
Y cual es vuestro favorito de esta seria ?

In the first week of January weather forecast predicted cold wave in the Spanish peninsula and possible snowfalls starting from January 15. And I knew we had to go to Pyrinees. On a night Jan 16 arrived storm Gerard and predicted snowfall started and it continued to snow all day. In the evening I hiked up to Mirador del Valle Benasque to capture the village from elevated spot, here are 2 versions - one from the beginning of the blue hour, another one some minutes later. Low clouds were constantly moving, covering and uncovering the village in the view. Which one do you prefer ?

En la primera semana de enero la previsión meteorológica prometio ola de frío en la Península y posibles nevadas a partir del 15 de enero. Ya sabía que teníamos que ir a Pirineos. En una noche del 16 de enero llego temporal Gerard y comenzó la nevada prevista y siguió nevando todo el día. Por la tarde subí al Mirador del Valle Benasque para capturar el pueblo desde un lugar elevado, aquí hay 2 versiones: una desde el comienzo de la hora azul, otra unos minutos después. Las nubes bajas se movían constantemente, cubriendo y descubriendo el pueblo en la vista. Cuál preferís ?

I took this shot with my Sigma 35 mm f 1.4 DN Art lens, the only lens I had with me on my last trip to Lisbon in late December. I was feeling emotionally exhausted and disturbed and waking up early to take a sunrise walk in Parque das Naçoes was a breath of fresh air. Here you see the low tide moment with coastal streams forming curved lines in the sand and Vasco da Gama bridge in the background. This image symbolizes resilience to me. The way you can respond to stressful moments, contemplate the world, take a deep breath and go on. Do you have a place like that ? What is it ?

Tomé esta foto con mi lente Sigma 35 mm f 1.4 DN Art, la única lente que tenía conmigo en mi último viaje a Lisboa a fines de diciembre. Me sentía emocionalmente exhausto y perturbado y levantarme temprano para dar un paseo al amanecer en el Parque das Naçoes fue una bocanada de aire fresco. Aquí se ve el momento de la marea baja con arroyos costeros formando líneas curvas en la arena y el puente Vasco da Gama al fondo. Esta imagen simboliza la resiliencia para mí. La forma en que puedes responder a los momentos estresantes, contemplar el mundo, respirar hondo y seguir adelante. ¿Teneis un lugar así? Cual es ?

A bit more of Iceland into the feed, if you don't mind 😁Haifoss was a place we visited 2 times during our Highlands adventures, first time the wind was so strong, it was trying to push us off the cliff or rip the camera out of our hands, not even speaking of where the drone would go 🤪. Second time it was still quite windy but we gave it a try. I could only manage a few shots for the vertical pano, constantly getting wind warnings and then battery was only enough to fly back.

Un poco más de Islandia en mi galeria, si no os molesta 😁 Haifoss fue un lugar que visitamos 2 veces durante nuestras aventuras en las Hihlands, la primera vez que el viento era tan fuerte, intentaba empujarnos por el acantilado o arrancarnos la cámara de las manos, sin siquiera hablar de a dónde iría el dron 🤪. La segunda vez todavía hacía bastante viento, pero lo intentamos. Solo pude manejar algunas tomas para la panorámica vertical, recibiendo constantemente advertencias de viento y luego la batería solo fue suficiente para volar de regreso.

Almost a year ago in early February I ventured in Asturias in .ruizgarcia workshop and revisited Covadonga lakes. This was our last sunrise where I just roamed free around the lake in search of compositions and came across this little tree on a tiny island, reflected in the stillness of the lake. In the second shot you can see a whider scene with the same tree. Which of these do you prefer ?

Hace casi un año a principios de febrero me aventuré en Asturias en el taller de .ruizgarcia y volví a visitar los lagos de Covadonga. Este fue nuestro último amanecer en el que deambulé libremente por el lago en busca de composiciones y me encontré con este pequeño árbol en una pequeña isla, reflejada en la quietud del lago. En la segunda toma se puede ver una escena más amplia con el mismo árbol. ¿Cuál de esas tomad preferis ?

These areal snaps are from our first morning ar Mirador de La Frisga near Orellan village, when we saw jaw-dropping scene of the fog filling all the valley. Which one of the series do your prefer ?

A estas alturas probablemente puedas adivinar que soy bastante amante de la niebla 😁 y en nuestro viaje de diciembre a la provincia de León hubo abundancia de ella. Estas tomas aéreas son de nuestra primera mañana en el Mirador de La Frisga cerca del pueblo Orellan, cuando vimos una escena asombrosa de la niebla que llenaba todo el valle. ¿Cuál de la serie preferís ?

When I discovered this place in our Douro trip planning, I instantly visualized the shot in my head and our strategic location had to be Lamego Camping. But at the time of our visit the foliage of the trees in Lamego wasn't exactly yellow. However, the morning turned out very atmospheric with fog floating in upper layers of the mountain and then it started going down. 611 steps altogether, are you the one who loves to go up or down the stairway ? 😀

Cuando descubrí este lugar en la planificación de nuestro viaje al Duero, visualicé instantáneamente un encuadre en mi cabeza y nuestra ubicación estratégica tenía que ser Lamego Camping. Pero en el momento de nuestra visita el follaje de los árboles de Lamego no era exactamente amarillo. Sin embargo, la mañana resultó muy atmosférica con niebla flotando en las capas superiores de la montaña y luego comenzó a bajar. 611 escalones en total, sois a quien gusta subir o bajar por la escalera ? 😀

Beneath The Fog

If you remember my timelapse from Las Medulas, here is a continuation of that morning but in a form of an aerial shot from the same location, when the fog revealed the formations briefly. Moments later it they were already all covered by the fog. Let 2023 reveal more magic of the universe for us and let us take good care of it.

Si recordais mi timelapse de Las Medulas, aquí hay una continuación de esa mañana pero en forma de toma aérea desde el mismo lugar, cuando la niebla reveló brevemente las formaciones. The Sheep Land

🇬🇧 My snowy winter is being delayed, but meanwhile I have this pastoral scene with Icelandic sheeps in Landmannalaugar. I was the latest one from our small photographers group to finish the hike, trying to take in every moment of these magestic scenes, as the last light was fading behind the colored mountains.

Mi invierno nevado se está retrasando, pero mientras tanto tengo esta escena pastoral con ovejas islandesas en Landmannalaugar. Fui la última de nuestro pequeño grupo de fotógrafos en terminar la ruta, tratando de captar cada momento de estas escenas mágicas, mientras la última luz se desvanecía detrás de las montañas coloridas.
