"Jindabyne"

Between Canberra and the Snowy Mountains, this the view from the roadside - rolling hills, dry grass, fluffy clouds, a few country houses, and plenty of livestock.

Jindabyne is the town where most people stay before hitting the snowfields and slopes, quiet in summer but packed in winter. I prefer summer... You get views like this and no people.

This series is part of our road trip from Sydney to Mt Kosciuszko via Canberra.

"Beaching"

Whether you're walking, driving or swimming on the Central Coast beaches, the view is amazing.

Looking back a few years ago, camping on Sydney's Central Coast, brings very fond memories. I haven't had much time to getaway and relax lately, so it's great to relive moments by looking at old photos.

"Swansea sunsets"

Looking back a few years ago, camping on Sydney's Central Coast, brings very fond memories. I haven't had much time to getaway and relax lately, so it's great to relive moments by looking at old photos.

This is a little camping spot at Swansea, on the banks of Lake Macquarie on the Central Coast. We've been here twice camping, in 2023 (these photos) and 2024 (photos to come!), and will do it again sometime.

"Camplife"

It's been a while since I've actually posted, so here is the first post of the year. This small camping trip to the Central Coast of NSW was a few years back, but felt it was quite Australian so I could post it today. Chilling by the campfire, listening to kookaburras laughing, fishing, and having a few beers with mates while the sun sets.

Happy Australia Day 2026! Have a BBQ with mates, a drink or two, a good chat, and remember that Australia Day isn't about when Europeans first landed on these shores, it's a celebration of being Australian, which means different things to different people. Come together, respect each other, and celebrate differences, and be Australian together.

"Best 9 of 2025"

If I'd thought 2024 was busy, then I don't know what to call 2025. These are the top 9 posts for the year, but I only managed to post 10 in total...

Life, parenthood, work, everything has taken up more and more time, with not much left for exercise, personal time, drinking a coffee while it's hot, travel, a quiet train journey into work... But I wouldn't change any of it as being a parent is so wonderful and the most challenging thing I've ever done.

Focuses in the new year:
1. Time with my daughter over everything
2. Time for photos (blog, Instagram, taking and editing)
3. Personal happiness and resilience

"Sculptures by the Sea 2025 - Part 3"

Some of this year's art installations: a bonzai with roots (pic 1,2 & 3), a not-so-small kaleidoscope (pic 4 & 5), and some art imitating sea life (pic 6,7 & 8).

Once a year Sydneysiders are treated to the Sculptures by the Sea exhibit along the Bondi to Tamarama part of the coastal walk. Walk, enjoy the seaview and of course some amazing sculptures along the way!

Walking along the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is always interesting, always beautiful, but made extra special once a year.

"Sculptures by the Sea 2025 - Part 2"

"Autumn Colours"

Although autumn isn't my favourite season, as it's usually rainy, windy and colder than I'd like, but when it comes to colours, it's hard not to be impressed. Canberra has more extreme weather than Sydney, hotter in summer and colder in winter, and it also shows the changes in season far more. Beautiful!!

Canberra is a strange city - build to house parliament and politicians after Australia's Federation in 1901, it was a compromise between Sydney and Melbourne. It was designed by the winners of a competition, built in the middle of nowhere, the only capital in Australia to not have access to the sea, and is full of roundabouts! There is beauty though, especially in autumn.

"Lest We Forget"

I walked the memorial path in the early hours of the morning, when there was nobody around, no noise, not even any cars on the road. It was the best time to take it all in.

Boer War - 1899-1902
World War I - 1914-18
World War II - 1939-45
