A beautiful finca surrounded by horses and open sky. Friends who sang with them, danced with them, cried with them. A day that felt handmade from beginning to end.

Some couples let you document their wedding. These two let you into their life.

🤍So in love with these two Alba y @

Sometimes a wedding catches you off guard.

I walked into Alba and Javi’s day knowing it would be beautiful. What I did not expect was to find so many people I have loved for a long time. Faces that have been part of my life, my story, my family in every way that matters. People I had not seen in years.

There is something about being behind a camera at a moment like that. You are there to witness everyone else’s emotion and suddenly your own catches up with you. I had to stop more than once. Not because anything went wrong. Because everything felt so right and so full and so alive.

Alba and Javi have no idea the gift they gave me that day.

Their wedding was full of surprises, letters, songs, closed eyes and opened hearts. A ceremony where the witnesses formed a circle behind them with words of love while they exchanged rings. A live set by Makau that stopped the whole room. Seven bouquets given to the women who matter most to them.

A day built entirely out of love. For each other and for everyone in that room.

Including me.

There is a moment at every celebration where people forget they are being photographed.

That is the moment I live for.

When someone throws their head back laughing and doesn’t care how they look. When two people find each other across a crowded room and just smile. When the dancing gets ridiculous and nobody stops it. When the oldest person at the table and the youngest one end up in the same conversation and something magic happens between them.

I am not there to document an event. I am there to catch people being fully, unapologetically alive.

Joy is the hardest thing to fake in a photograph. And the easiest thing to feel when you look at one.

This is why I do this.

Two people. Two countries. One life built somewhere in between.

This is what draws me to intercultural weddings more than anything else. Two people who found each other far from home, who built something new from two completely different worlds, two families, two ways of loving and celebrating and being together. And on their wedding day all of that becomes one room. One table. One story.

María and Romeo brought together two families who had never shared the same air before that day.

Sixty three people under the Empordà sky at Mas Gelabert in Pals, surrounded by olive trees and stone walls that have seen centuries of love pass by.

I always say the best weddings are not the biggest ones. They are the ones where every single person in the room was meant to be there.

This was one of those.

Some weddings don’t need hundreds of guests to fill a room with love. They just need the right ones.

María & Romeo chose 63 people who truly matter. And in that small circle, something extraordinary happened.

She arrived by golf cart with her father. Smiling. Completely herself.
And then came the vows.
I don’t know what they said to each other in that moment, those words belong to them. But I remember what happened in that place.

Friends who hadn’t cried in years were wiping their eyes.

I was wiping mine too, behind the camera.

That’s the kind of love that doesn’t perform. It just is.
Golden light, olive trees, words spoken from the heart and 63 people who love these two with everything they have.

María. Romeo. Thank you for letting me be there. 🤍

A photograph has never been just a photograph for me.

Long before I became a wedding photographer, I was already fascinated by people. Their stories, their dreams, their contradictions — their beauty and their vulnerability.

For the last 15 years, photography has taken me all around the world. I’ve witnessed love in many forms, cultures and languages. I’ve been invited into some of the most intimate moments of people’s lives.

But what I love most is not the destination, the venue or even the photograph itself.

It’s connection.

The moment someone forgets about the camera.
The moment they feel safe enough to be fully themselves.
The moment laughter becomes real, emotions take over, and something honest unfolds.

I don’t believe in perfection.
I believe in truth. In feeling deeply. In living fully.
In creating memories that still make your heart beat a little faster years later.

And perhaps that’s why I still love this work as much as I did on day one.

Because every person I meet changes me a little.
And every story reminds me how beautiful it is to be alive.

I’m Mónica, wedding & elopement photographer based in Barcelona, shooting across Catalonia, Spain and wherever love takes me. 🤍
