Basically it’s about you, whether as the photographer or the subject, and your feeling relaxed within the process. That you don’t feel pressured into doing things you don’t want to do, and on the other hand, that you feel empowered to do the things you want to. That’s what the just natural part refers to – you being natural, just yourself. There is also the part of using natural light whenever pos
sible, keeping post processing to a minimum and seeing the true nature of what is being photographed. However, that means being creative wherever possible rather than rejecting other forms, if there isn’t enough light to get the shot you want, get out the flash, and nowadays few photographers take images directly from the camera so there is alway a degree of post processing (and there has always been manipulation). So here at Just Natural Photography the focus is on you, allowing you to be yourself and losing your fear so that you can experiment, try new things and discover yourself. Part 2
I want my studio to be a place for unconventional people. A place where they can come and feel supported, feel protected and be themselves. A place where they can live out their fantasies. A place they can share with whom they choose. When I say unconventional, I don’t just mean people who are outwardly unconventional via their clothing or behaviour, I am also referring to those who are inwardly unconventional. People who are unable to (or prefer not to) dress as they would like because it would be considered inappropriate because of their age, job or social position. Carnival provides an opportunity to do this once a year, I offer you the freedom to externalise the inner you whenever you want and have a great set of images to cherish. Just because you are no longer a twenty something, have had children and/or weigh more than you did, don’t feel afraid. The women that you see in adverts are not better than you, they are merely different. Don’t be intimidated by what some consider to be beautiful, have those photos taken (that you always wanted) and you will help to tip the balance away from the unattainable, and the feeling of being inferior, and back towards normal, and the feeling of being in charge.
