It’s so desolate here in the South of Spain, simply kilometres of desert one after the other, nobody in sight, ghost villages as people seek shelter from the scorching heat. I’ve always liked how it photographs, the barren orange landscapes torched after another summer of sun. It’s how I imagine a lot of the Middle East looks like, I’ve never been, maybe one day I’ll finally shoot Oman, that’s on the list. I can’t imagine riding a bike in this heat, let alone racing it, I feel as though that feat is almost more impressive than the absurd power numbers we’ve grown so used to seeing now. A thank you to Reuben Thompson he threw the brakes on in the last photo, dropping from the group just so I could shoot him solo, well Finn Fisher-Black won an Oscar with that pain face. Those are bloody good New Zealanders right there.
