13h driving is the long way that took us from Puerto Rio Tranquilo in Chile to El Chaltén, Argentina. All these images I'm sharing weren't supposed to happen, in fact, it was a last-minute decision to drop Cerro Fitz Roy from this trip, the long driving and no sleeping were too heavy on our safety. However, along the way, we almost got petrol empty not finding a gas station for kilometers, couldn't pay with multiple credit cards due out to power outages at the gas station, fed on empanadas for 24h in a row, arrived at 4 am to El Chaltén.
It wasn't bad at all, I think it's a matter of how far you're willing to go, we changed our minds while driving, the sky was on fire, the road was endless but in pleasure we drove, guanacos were seen along the way, and we could only, but to expect, Fitz Roy range to show himself for the sunrise glow.
Did that all happened in a 24-hour window? Oh yes, it did. Were we among the luckiest persons around, probably. So this series is all about that, driving endless, stunning sunsets/sunrises, happy people in these places.
