When is a ‘TRADITION’ truly acceptable in 2026?
This happened today in Germany.

Tradition versus needless cruelty.

At what lengths do people go to protect their Tradition?

THE GRIND - Part 2

And my recollection and thoughts continue as I try to come to terms with what happened in The Faroe Islands on the 27th of May 2026.

Each footage of The Grind, I think I have seen it all, but nothing ever prepares you for the disbelief and the shock.

I am left with questions.
Why? How can they?
It just doesn’t make any sense to us.

And when I say “us”, I confidentially vouch for Millions and millions of people the world over.

We simply cannot understand why one of the most beautiful creatures in this world; one of the most beautiful phenomenas, why would anyone wish to destroy them?

And we can say this about all animals. Whether you are a vegan, a vegetarian, a pescatarian, an omnivore or a herbivore - all animals must be protected from suffering and harm. And whatever your views about this subject, the way that these whales and dolphins are chased beyond exhaustion; suffocated; dragged with hooks attached to their blow holes and then are indiscriminately sliced in front of their families is beyond comprehension.

Mothers, pregnant females with their unborn calves inside them; babies and juveniles; generations of whales are cut up while conscious and are attacked in ways we would never condone in our modern society.

Yet we allow this to happen, 200 miles from the shores of Scotland and within the Union of Europe and continue to trade enormously with these islands?

Please support and by following links to send emails and letters within their Bio. There is also a Bio link in my profile titled email

THE GRIND - Part 1
This is my recollection of how I felt the morning after one of the biggest massacres of Pilot Whales in the Faroese Island’s History.
The 27th of May 2026.

The Grindadrap is so far removed from the Tradition of the 16th Century, where the Faroese were hungry and needed food to survive. The small little wooden boats and oars of yester year been replaced by motors, rudders and propellers; GPS Trackers and state of the art technology.

And there’s an anger. A defiance. A fear of change.

This is what makes them “Faroese”, but to us, we see them as cruel and barbaric.

They are one of the wealthiest Nations in Europe due to their fishing industry; Salmon Farming; Lamb exports and Tourism is growing.

If a Tradition is based on the survival of how your forefathers once heroically fought the harsh conditions of the North Atlantic, what is the Tradition based on now?

Defiance and Greed or Identity?

In an ever changing world of earth’s survival, we must all take better care of our oceans. All of us. We can’t be hypocritical and tell one Nation to stop one thing, but continue taking too much of another from ourselves.

We must but we must also

This is not a publicity stunt to increase Tourism. This is how it is. The innocence of El Hierro, with its beauty, but strong traditions and heritage define it.
