The Big Five of Africa 🦁🐘🐆🦏🐃
The Big Five are Africa’s most iconic wildlife: the lion, elephant, leopard, rhinoceros and African buffalo.
Interestingly, the name doesn’t refer to their size. It comes from the days of big-game hunting, when these were considered the five most dangerous animals to hunt on foot.
Today, the Big Five represent something entirely different: the privilege of seeing these magnificent animals in the wild and the importance of protecting them for future generations.
