Hoodoolab HOODOOLAB is an artistic collective created in 2016 by Kathleen Day and Francisco Riopedre.

The project was born from the need for both of them to investigate and generate new languages in the field of visual arts, especially in photography The project was born from the need for both of them to investigate and generate new languages in the field of visual arts, especially in photography. Analogue being the starting point of our creative process and experimentation. One of the key fac

tors that led us to create this project has been the interest in preserving the historical and documentary aspect of anonymous photography from the 20th century. Memory and the passage of time are the common denominator between these two differentiated but complementary parts. From our platform we want to vindicate the analog as a form of contemporary expression as opposed to the digital monopoly.

Fran and I are very proud to have work in Lumínic Festival 2024.

"Pathological Anatomy" is a photographic exploration of the human body at the threshold of the unconscious

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX9DaxiFDgA

The work we present delves into the realm of the microscopic to explore the intersection between the conscious and the unconscious through the prism of the human body. The project features a series of digitizations of microscopic human tissues, revealing the complexity and hidden beauty of the human body on a molecular level.

We want to invite viewers to question established perceptions about reality and existence, confronting the idea that the ultimate truth may reside in the depths of our physical being. Each image captures the texture and intricate geometry of human tissues, inviting the viewer to reflect on the connection between body and soul, matter and spirit.

--------------------

The original slides were acquired in 2020 at an antiques market in Barcelona. After the purchase, we carried out a research process in which we digitize the material. We discovered that these microscopic samples of human tissue (eye lens, heart, brain, thyroid...) belong to a collection made by Dr. Soler Roig (1902 - 1999). The surgeon Josep Soler-Roig i Elizacin was a prestigious Catalan doctor. Among other positions, he has held the vice presidency of the International College of Surgeons and has operated on and established close friendships with great figures in the art world such as Picasso, J. M. Sert and Dalí, whom he operated on for a hernia. The surrealist painter gave him the drawing titled Saint Agatha Platonic, as he narrated in the extraordinary conference held at the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia in 1975: My artistic relationship in the profession.

Thanks you Lumínic, and everyone who made it possible to show this work.

Through my platform , we premiered "Mariña" at the 7th edition of .

"Mariña" shows a timeless place where a primitive essence remains, a region that conceives the marine element as a sacred space. The primary objective of the collection is to create a photographic essay that interprets the territory as a state of mind.
