A tiny encounter in the wild 🦗🐌

Sometimes, the most interesting moments in macro photography aren't about a single subject.

This mantis was sharing its little corner of the world with a snail...and, for a few moments, they made the perfect scene.

Nature doesn't need to be staged. You just have to be there when it happens.

My first encounter with an Asian hornet 🐝

After photographing so many different insects over the years, it’s strange to think that I had never seen one of these in person.

This was my first time seeing and photographing Vespa velutina in the field...and, of course, I couldn’t resist getting as close as possible 🔍

Up close, those colours and textures are incredible…although I have to admit, I was a little more aware of how close I was than usual 😅

At first glance, just a dragonfly.

But look closer 👀

The wings, the tiny hairs, the intricate patterns…details that disappear completely when you see it from a distance.

That’s what I love about macro photography: taking something familiar and revealing a world that was always there, just too small for our eyes to notice.

Sometimes, you only need to look a little closer 🔍

There’s something unsettling about looking straight into the eyes of a mantis 👀

Up close, their face looks almost unreal...every tiny detail, every facet of those incredible eyes.

This is one of those encounters where macro photography completely changes the way you see a familiar animal.

A face we normally overlook suddenly becomes an entire world.

You probably know this little face…but maybe not by the same name.

In my village, we call them “dragó” or "dragonet" (It would translate more or less as “dragon” in Catalan 🐉).

This is a Tarentola mauritanica, the Moorish gecko, a familiar sight around Mediterranean homes and walls.

I love how something so common can become completely different when you look at it through a macro lens. Those scales, that eye…a tiny dragon hiding in plain sight.

💬 What do you call them where you live?I’d love to know how this little “dragon” is known in different parts of the world.

You probably didn’t expect this.

Covered in dust and tiny particles, this little damselfly looks almost alien when you get close enough.

Macro photography has a way of revealing details that are completely invisible to the naked eye...every hair, every facet of the eyes, every tiny piece of debris.

Sometimes, the smallest creatures have the strangest faces.

There’s something different about looking an insect in the eyes.

This little mantis stopped me in my tracks.

The closer I looked, the more details I discovered...from the tiny facets of its eyes to every little texture on its face.

Sometimes, you don’t need to see the whole insect to appreciate how incredible it is.

There’s something strangely hypnotic about a mantis staring straight back at you.

Millions of tiny facets make up those eyes, yet somehow…it feels like it’s looking directly at you.
