"The Unobserved" focuses on everyday scenes that often pass unnoticed. This exhibition celebrates personal stories of our everyday existence. The collection of images unveils personal stories, often overlooked and quickly forgotten, capturing intimate daily moments or objects of symbolic meaning. Featured works include still life compositions of everyday objects, intimate indoor scenes, candid moments of people in the midst of everyday activities, as well as urban and rural landscapes, and abstract or symbolic representations. Each photograph preserves and reflects on fleeting experiences and daily moments, inviting viewers to explore the deeper, sometimes hidden, narratives behind unobserved moments. "The Unobserved" is a showcase of photographers who are inspired to uncover the extraordinary within the ordinary.

FUNAMBULIST, a study on verticality is a series of photographs I made around redevelopment & regeneration of East London. Pleased that the work has been selected by CICA Museum for the 10th International Exhibition on Abstract Art. Looking forward to exhibit alongside fellow studio buddy John in South Korea in April 2025.

“제주도에서 ‘4.3사건’ 장소들을 돌아보는데, 위령비가 있는 곳 표지판이 밭옆의 숲을 향해 길이 없는 곳을 떡하니 가르키고 있었다“.

내일부터 바르셀로나에서 개막하는 Revela-t 아날로그 포토 패스티벌에서 레지던스 아티스트로 발표하는 신작 는 제주 ‘4.3사건’ 학살 장소들 인근에서 느낀 감정을 담아내고 있다. 시간의 흐름과 카메라 움직임의 통제로 표현하는 작업을 통해 존재와 부재 그리고 실제에 대한 사진의 현상학적 개념을 고찰한다.

미군정기에 제주도에서 발생한 ‘4.3사건’은 한국 현대사에서 한국전쟁 다음으로 인명피해가 극심했던 비극이다. 이사건으로 제주도민 1/10에 달하는 25,000 - 30,000명이 토벌대와 빨치산 양쪽에 의해 살해된 것으로 추정된다. 공식 집계된 민간인 사망자 수는 14,532명이다.

Rather the flight of the bird which passes and leaves no trace, Than the track of the animal that is carved in the ground.

The bird passes and is forgotten and so it must be. The animal, though no longer there and thus of no good, Proves that it was there, but this too is of no interest.

Remembering is a betrayal to Nature
Because yesterday's Nature is Nature no longer.
What was is nothing and to remember is not to see.

Pass by, bird, pass by and teach me how to pass.
