Earth, Moon, and Sun, perfectly aligned for a moment. 🌕🌑

Last night’s lunar eclipse, through my lens.

Stayed behind the camera all night, so I figured I deserved the last frame. 📸

Every August, the night sky puts on one of its most beautiful shows. ☄️✨

The Perseid meteor shower returns each year as Earth passes through the trail of debris left behind by Comet Swift-Tuttle.

For a few nights, all you need is a dark sky, a little patience, and your eyes looking up.

No telescope. No screen. Just the universe reminding us how small we are.

Shot under the August sky. 🌌

Inside

By the time the fish reaches the table, the ocean feels far away.

Inside the market, the energy of the shoreline changes.

The crowds thin. The light becomes quieter. Fish are cleaned and cut on worn tables while people work in spaces shaped by years of repetition.

There is something deeply human about watching someone perform a task they have done thousands of times.

No spectacle. No performance.

Just skill, routine and another working day.

Maybe that is what I keep searching for with my camera, not perfect moments, but honest ones.

Because when you slow down enough to really observe people, even the most ordinary act can become a story worth remembering.

The Market

The sea provides the catch. People give it value.

On the sand, fish become livelihood.

People gather around the day’s catch, inspecting, sorting, carrying and exchanging what arrived from the water only a short time earlier.

Nothing here felt still.

Hands reached into buckets. Conversations overlapped. People came and disappeared through the crowd. Beneath it all was the constant movement of work.

I arrived wanting to photograph a fishing market.

But the longer I stayed, the more I understood that I was photographing something much larger, the relationship between a community and the sea that helps sustain it.

And perhaps that is the beauty of documentary photography.

You arrive looking for one story, and if you pay enough attention, you leave having discovered another.

The People Behind the Market

Eventually, the story stopped being about fish.

The longer I stayed, the more my attention shifted toward the people.

Hands moving quickly through piles of silver fish. Sellers calling across the market. Conversations unfolding between strangers. Someone working, someone waiting, someone laughing in the middle of it all.

Every face seemed to belong to a different story, yet for a few hours they all became part of the same one.

This is one of the things travel continues to teach me.

Places are remembered through landscapes and architecture, but very often, it is the people who give a place its soul.

Beyond the Catch

A fishing community is built on more than fishermen.

Away from the water, another kind of work continues.

Nets need repairing. Equipment needs preparing. Buckets move through narrow streets. People wait, talk, carry, fix and begin again.

These quieter moments interested me just as much as the boats arriving.

Because a community isn’t defined only by its biggest moments. It is held together by hundreds of small tasks, repeated so often that they become almost invisible.

Documentary photography has taught me to look for those moments.

Sometimes the story isn’t where everyone is looking. It’s happening just beside it.

Between Sea and Land

The distance between sea and shore is short. The journey is not.

Again and again, people walked into the water carrying empty buckets and returned carrying the catch.

Some balanced them above their heads. Others carried one in each hand, moving through the waves while the boats waited farther out.

I watched this movement repeat itself until I stopped seeing individual trips and started seeing a human chain connecting the ocean to the land.

There are parts of our everyday lives we rarely think about because we only encounter the finished product.

But behind almost everything we consume are people, hands, routines and stories we may never see.

Photography gives me a reason to notice them.
