Hamouda Cafe, the famous café that never sleeps, is adorned with lights on the first days of Ramadan 2026. This café, known for serving what is considered the best flavored sh**ha in Alexandria, is not only distinguished for that — it has also been known for decades as the “Artists’ Café,” as it was located next to Ismail Yassin Theater, Negm & El Abd Theater, and Panorama Theater.

Artists used to gather there after finishing their theatrical performances at dawn each summer night, staying until sunrise. The Camp Shizar district, where the café is located, is renowned for its numerous cafés, restaurants, wedding halls, and — in the past — its theatrical venues. For this reason, the area is nicknamed “Sleepless Camp Shizar.”
