A midnight under a red moon. You’re dressed in illuminating nines, but sitting in the shadow of a coffee shop.
You’re in the midst of presence and absence, toeing the red line between two realms of what ifs, but choosing neither.
Perhaps, the choice is patience. Fixing your outfit, working on your introduction, and hoping for a hand to take you across any threshold. Perhaps, you’re gauging the realms, and gauging yourself. The value against the worthiness. Perhaps you’re waiting for them to quiet down and dim the lights, just enough you wouldn’t be overwhelmed by them, and they wouldn’t be underwhelmed by you.
The sign flickers, and for a moment, the dark outside blends with the dark in you.
For a moment, the reel of life floods in your mind’s eye, and you understand. Life unfolds at the questions, in the journey, with the soul-searching, and, ultimately, the courage to pursue what feels right. The siren call of your soul won’t stop until it is answered. You lose your mind when you talk more sense than you should; choosing what brings joy is rarely reasonable and never consistent.
You find yourself where you’re not chained. What brings you to your goal is often not the end of your journey. The answer right in front of you is uncertain.
But.
You can choose to live like a work of art. Like you are an overflow of expression, like you are uncharted talent, like you are the culmination of wondrous, and fierce, and beyond grasp.
A midnight under a red moon. You’re dressed in illuminating nines, but sitting in the shadow of a coffee shop. You take a step into depths of stillness.
It is light inside.
