In 1989, a unique bus shelter was built in Kabli based on drawings by Bruno Raab. Shaped like half of a ship, the pavilion symbolises Kabli’s rich maritime history and commemorates the last wooden motor sailing vessel, “Neptun”, launched from the local beach in 1930. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, Kabli was famous as a seafaring village and an important shipbuilding centre, where large sailing ships and later motor vessels were constructed for voyages on the Baltic Sea and beyond. Today, the bus shelter recalls that era and stands as a small monument to local shipbuilders and sailors. Thanks to its distinctive design, it has become one of Kabli’s best-known landmarks, where an everyday structure is charmingly combined with the region’s history and cultural heritage.
