Momma spider 🕷️

The shed NEVER disappoints! This was a photo from last year whilst cleaning and working on my shed roof, I was able to photograph these cellar spiders with their egg sacs. This year there isn’t as many, maybe due to me changing a rotten roof to a new one, but I’m sure to find some with their egg sac soon enough. It’s crazy how much detail there is in the egg sac. I love photographing these scenes.

One of my favourite beetles I was able to photograph in Ecuador. I believe this to be a Omaspides convexicollis. It was incredibly flat to the surface of the leaf as the rain came down adding some small water droplets to its shell. Such an incredible pattern me colouration, really one I was excited to see.

Spider on Mars ✨

When in Crete on holiday, I was abit disappointed for the first couple of days, as I thought I would find a lot of jumping spiders, but I didn’t find a single one. It’s only when I realised that the jumping spiders would only come out at the hottest point of the day, was when I found them. This also made them very hard to shoot as they were so active due to the higher temperatures. For this issue I had to use singles shots for all these images, it can be a challenge for depth of field, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to add a bit of depth to the image.

This spider was found on the wall of our apartment , like many others I found. The texture and colour makes me think of mars!

A beautiful mumma paper wasp in Ecuador. One that could easily have been missed because it was constructing its next on the underside of a very low light used to light up the pathway of the resort at night. You can see in the last photo the tiny eggs at the top that she has laid and now in wait for them to grow. It won’t take long for this nest to be thriving with paper wasps!

Fly by 🪰

I love this photograph because it was photo bombed by this tiny fly 😂 this was such a cute frog, it had amazing colours on its belly but I haven’t go round to editing the photo yet!

Disco ball 🪩

One of the most interesting abdomen I have ever seen! This is a Mirror spider -Thwaitesia argenteopunctata I think! They have these beautiful, reflective patches on their abdomen that give them the name of Mirror spider. They can use this to scatter light and confuse predators!

Imagine having antennas that big that thy block your vision like this 😂 atleast the big compound eyes can make up for it!

Here’s an amazingly coloured long horn beetle, trying to get a good portrait was difficult due to the antennas, I tried a few different angles, but this one seemed like the best. Hope you like it!

What an absolutely beautiful tortoise beetle. I was amazed when I first saw it, when one of the team found it in the Amazon of Ecuador. So glad to be able to get a few shots of it!

Embarkment

Here’s the wide angle shot that I was able to take of this beautiful tarantula. Just sitting there at shoulder height as I walked past through the jungle. I knew because of the size this needed the trust 12-45 pro wide angle lens setup. I tried to get as low as possible to get eye level with it and create this unique perspective. I find tarantulas hard to photograph, so I’m very pleased with this one.
