One of the coolest spider shots I was able to to capture in the rain forest. Being able to show the spiders spinneret as it shoots out silk winding it around its prey was fascinating. This happened all so fast, so I took a burst of single shots hoping that I got the focus just right to be able to capture this moment. Very happy with how it came out!

I had an amazing bit of luck by finding this ruby tailed wasp out in my back garden underneath the window sill. It was in the shade which was a blessing as I always find ruby tails in direct sun light moving at the speed of light. I fired off a few shots and as I went to grab my wide angle lens, it flew off never to be seen again. I hope it comes back.

A cluster of wasps 🐝

These wasp were a pretty common find in the Amazon. The only problem was if you shined your headlight at them, they would fly directly at you and try and attack you. Sometimes they were chill and other times they were not. I remember someone would shout wasps and we’d all frantically try and turn our headlights off so we weren’t targets till they left us alone. It made the photography trip that much more exciting 😂

Emergence 🐣

Keep swiping to see one of my most favourite damselfly photos!

This is a scene I have been wanting to find for YEARS. As normally I go out mid day or in the evenings due to be a lazy bu**er, i normally miss the chance to find dragonflies or damselflies hatching in the morning. To my surprise I found this one hatch yesterday at around 1pm in the day! I was a little late and found it completely out of its old exoskeleton. I took so many photos, it moved around quite a lot trying to find the best position to spread out its wings. With my arms stretched out over the pond trying to get focus stacks, I feel like it came out the best it could in the situation.

It’s been a while since I posted a moth, so how a moth a post of a moth I’ve recently found in my back garden. Hunkered down on this leaf due to colder temperatures in the morning I was able to get so pretty decent stacks. The smaller moths tend to have the best scales IMO.

On the beach ☀️

Here’s a shot from 2 years ago, no idea how time has flown so quickly since then, but this was when I was able to find some sand bear spiders. After looking around for hours for tiger beetles, I noticed these small spiders running around on the sand. Turns out they are a pretty cool spider, living on the sand dunes and camoflauging perfectly.
