From Morondava we flew back to Tana (Antananarivo) and from there we drove to Andasibe. Where the area in the west around Morondava is mainly dry forest, Andasibe is rain forest. It was also colder than by the coast in the west. Here we went for several hikes in the rain forest.

After a couple of nights in Kirindy Forest, we continued on towards Morondava. On the way, we passed an amazing area, known for its abundance of Baobab Trees.

Next stop was Kirindy Forest, mostly for the wildlife. Kirindy Forest is a private nature reserve.

One of the absolute highlights of our trip, was exploring the Great Tsingy. It is located in Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the western part of Madagascar. In essence, it is a forest of limestone formations, formed by a combination of rising groundwater and erosion from rain and wind.
It is very much worth the very long journey to get there.

Another reason we were told, not to drive our self, was because of the "car ferries"... In order to get from the Tsiribihina River to Bekopaka, we had to take two of them.
When there are no funds to build roads, let alone bridges, it works. However, it is a good thing, that there is not that much, or heavy, traffic...
