I går, d. 22. marts 2024, tog vi afsked med Gitte med vemod, men også med glæde over det hun gav. Tak til jer som var med og til jeres kommentarer.

Alt for tidligt har vi d. 9. marts 2024 mistet Gitte, selvom hun gennem mange år har været plaget af kronisk sygdom, og vi nok anede, at hendes liv ikke ville blive så langt. Alligevel har Gitte kæmpet og givet alt, hun kunne til de nærmeste og til mennesker omkring sig i det hele taget. Gennem en kaotisk opvækst præget af svigt og tab, var Gitte et tidligt skadet barn, men selv fyldt med kærlighed og omsorg, hun ikke tøvede med at dele ud af, for at andre ikke skulle opleve, det hun selv havde været igennem.

Gitte holdt af ro og uforanderlighed, men var samtidig ikke bange for at kaste sig ud i nye udfordringer. Hvorfor vente med at gøre noget til i morgen, når det kan gøres i dag …

Gitte var et utroligt ærligt og åbent menneske, og andre mennesker kunne godt støde sig på hende, for hun sagde altid sin ærlige mening, hvor andre måske ville være mere tilbageholdende.

Bisættelsen finder sted i Kapellet på Gentofte Hospital fredag d. 22. marts 2024 kl. 12.00, hvor I, som vil være med til at mindes Gitte sammen med hendes nærmeste, er velkomne.

“Stylte Signe” … the amazing stilt walker/artist 👆😁👆Visual vibes from 2023 (Part 144)

(Stilt walking, an ancient and fascinating skill, traces its origins back to the 6th century in ancient Greece. It served practical purposes in history, aiding individuals in traversing challenging terrains like marshy lands and flooded areas. Similarly, in the Landes region of southern France, shepherds utilized stilts to extend their field of vision while tending to their flocks. Beyond its utilitarian uses, stilt walking evolved into a captivating form of performance art and entertainment, leaving its mark on diverse cultures over the ages.
In contemporary times, stilt walking has metamorphosed into a prominent feature of entertainment at various functions and events. Today's stilt walkers are primarily skilled performers who captivate audiences by striding on elevated poles or pegs of various heights, enhancing their stature. Among the different types of stilts employed, "peg stilts," also known as Chinese stilts, are most prevalent in professional performances. These peg stilts are secured to the foot, ankle, and just below the knee, often crafted from materials like wood, aluminum, or tubular steel, and recognized for their lightweight nature that make the performers able to move more freely and even engage in activities like e.g. dancing.
Furthermore, stilt walkers often amplify their allure by adorning themselves in elaborate costumes and theatrical makeup, that turns them into fantastical beings, mythic entities, or whimsical characters.
The presence of stilt walkers never fails to elicit smiles from onlookers. A prime example is the remarkable Danish stilt walker and artist known as “Styltesigne” (Signe Gravlund Thomsen). Her performance at the grand opening of the Classic Car House in Greater Copenhagen left an indelible impression, radiating joy and leaving spectators, like myself, with enduring smiles. Stilt walking's timeless charm continues to bridge the past and the present, enchanting hearts with its remarkable blend of skill, artistry, and sheer delight – a perfect analogy to the vision of Classic Car House … I’m still smiling 😁).
