A couple of the spreads from a Gourmet traveller article that I shot in the beautiful Overberg region of South Africa, for Food and Travel magazine in the UK. An extra special memory for me because I finally got to see whales, swimming and breaching very close to the shore. Magical! Special thanks to writer Richard Holmes for being such a wonderful team mate on this and for all the driving, invaluable local knowledge and organisation, and to all the amazing people we met who contributed to this feature. Thanks too to the South Africa tourist board. Such a privilege to visit and learn about this extraordinary part of the world 💚💚💚

Brioche really is a beautiful thing. The way it almost magically turns to a beautiful mahogany brown in the oven makes all the love, time and effort you put into it worthwhile. I’ve also found it to be quite an enigma - I’ve tried and adapted quite a few recipes over the years, trying to create something that tastes really authentic. That takes you right back to the streets of Paris… this is the closest I’ve come so far. It smells soooo good! Flaky on the outside, soft and fluffy and deliciously buttery on the inside. It seems that the key is the butter… lots and lots of of really good butter. Honestly, an obscene amount!… the butter, together with all the baking love of course🤎

Just picked - a lovely bumper crop of sweet cherries from the garden! Not sure what we did differently this year 🙃...last year we only had two cherries on the same tree, and the birds got those! There’s still more on the tree... the question is now, what to make/bake with them all? Or shall we just eat them all straight from the bowl like candy?!🍒🍒🍒

A breakfast that is as beautiful as it is delicious ❤️. Food prepared with love and a passion for good ingredients at . Home-made sourdough bread, poached egg with foraged wild onions, pancake with Danish strawberries and wonderful coffee (that was so good I had three cups!). Breakfast just doesn’t get any better than this! Big thanks to Mette for a lovely relaxing stay on the beautiful island of Ærø. I already want to come back! ###
