INTERVIEW WITH HENRIK SØRENSEN
MY Style
With time my style has become more personal and I have developed my own signature that is recognizable through various captions of movement. And within the recent years my trademark has become underwater photography in particular. My personal style lies not so much in the pictures technical performance, but more in the conceptualization of the image and my
humoristic approach to every assignment. In many of my pictures I think you will be able to detect a more playful and spontaneous energy. MY Inspiration
I love brainstorming with inspiring people, and my curiosity inspires me to always go even further than my initial plan. My problem often is that I get too many ideas, and I try to restrain myself from not wanting to live them all out. Of course I have an inherent strong Danish perfectionist inside of me, who is striving for flawlessness and setting excessively high performance standards, but I try to balance out this somehow rigid personality trait with my childish and adventures side. As a kid I dreamt of becoming one of the great old masters like: Erving Penn and Richard Avedon – some of the world's best advertising photographers. MY work
Capturing movement in images is something that many photographers only think to do when they are photographing sports or other fast moving subjects. While there is an obvious opportunity in sports photography to emphasize the movement of participants – almost every type of photography can benefit from the emphasis of movement in a shot – even when the movement is very small, slow and/or subtle. And my strength is movement and everything that holds motion – in particular water, liquids and explosions. Additionally, I am captivated with the human body and its anatomy, the physical part, the expression and movement, and therefore I love photographing dancers. Especially the less polished, mysterious, transparent, sexy and grandiose side to dance.
