Do I need a permit to propose in Florence? 💍✨
For a simple surprise proposal in a public area, usually not.
Places like Piazzale Michelangelo, Ponte Vecchio viewpoints, or quiet streets near the Duomo can work beautifully because Florence already gives you so much atmosphere — historic architecture, romantic streets, and iconic views without needing much extra.
But if you’re imagining a more styled proposal with flowers, candles, signage, arches, or a larger setup, it’s usually better to look at a private villa, garden, rooftop, or terrace instead. Those locations are more suited for decorations, but they may have their own rules, fees, or approval process, so it’s best to check in advance.
Florence is full of romantic places to propose, and a little planning can help you choose the option that fits the kind of moment you want.
